Okay...so here it goes....
I've been going to this so called shop in Wakefield since i started riding three years ago. And he is usually really busy because he deals with a lot of squids and stuff like that. But he has usually treated me well and fair with things and helped me out when i went down on my old 600.
So...back in late May / Early June i go down to the shop to chat with him and his buddy is there with the exact same bike as me, and he is parting it out...and he offered me a full akrapovic titanium race system, a new fender eliminator, a sequential taillight, for 500$ plus my stock system with the two bros slip on...I said hell ya and paid him for it the next day. This is where it starts getting bad...
So over the next few weeks i continuously drop the bike off with the promise of it getting finished and then pick it back up and nothing has even changed on it....So i go away to Florida for a week 2 weeks ago and he swears that the bike will be done the Tuesday I get back....I show up that Tuesday...NOTHING IS TOUCHED....and to rub salt in the wound he told me how he took it for a ride into boston and it rode nice....WTF? You take my bike for a ride but dont work on it????????????? YOU TAKE MY BIKE FOR A RIDE WITHOUT ASKING ME?????????!!!!!!!!!
as you can tell i was pretty pissed and I realized I wasnt going to get anywhere with him...so I told a little fib and said I was leaving with the Army Aug 3rd for 6 months (truth is i leave Sept 5th...i musta misremembered heheh) and wanted it back right away completed...he said sure..esp after my buddy called him up drunk and bitched him out.
So i dropped the bike off last Friday...and he told me it would be done Tuesday...Show up and wait around the shop yesterday for 3 hours and the only thing that is done is the bike is naked and the headers are on...but he cant torque them down because he lost his torque wrench that can go to 16lbs and told me itd be done today...
I show up today with all my gear ready to go...not done...full system is on, power commander isnt mapped, fairings arnt on, and he still hasnt found his wrench....So i call Steve with the CBR (steveCBR900rr) on here and he lends me his wrenches and I go and drop them off at the shop and he promised to have it done tonight or tommorow morning...
bottom line...im FUCKEN PISSED AND WON'T GO BACK THERE!...only reason i dealt with this is because it was a 1600$ system i got for 500$ and it was his friends bike so i couldnt go elsewhere...![]()
I'd have called the cops the second he said he took it to Boston without your permission. That's crazy shit right there
yes i signed papers and stuff but i couldnt tell his friends to take his bike to my buddys house so I can do it...cause he wouldnt piss off his friend who owned the shop by doing that...
Yea i was pretty pissed...picture me (6'1" 218 lbs and in the Army) and my buddy (6' 240 lbs former Marine) looking at him in shock when he told me this....we were ready tohim
i would tell him that you now have a $200 credit with his shop, since he essentially stole your bike and you were kind enough to not press charges. or go in there with a bag and start grabbing merchandise and just walk out.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

Take the bike (as is) and tools back on the premise that the service has not been performed in a timely manner.
EDIT: One more thing is he was joy riding on your bike. That's grounds enough for me to take my shit elsewhere.
When you get your bike back I would still
That just not right to take someone else's bike for a ride. That is exactly why I never let anyone else to work to my bike. But it doesn't seem like you were in a position to do that. Sucks man, sorry to hear it.

If the guy owns a shop, doesnt the Snap-On or Matco, or Mac guy come like every day. Between all three, someone is around. Guy sounds like a BS artist to me.

that sucks, mike. i'm assuming this is moto design or extreme moto design or moto extreme design or design moto extreme or whatever? lol.
shops do tend to have that nasty habit of sucking hardcore. at least you didn't bring your 8 month old bike with BRAND NEW, 3month old, immaculate OEM lower fairings to a dealer for the 7500mi service, and then when you go to pick it up, you find that there are scratches on the right upper part of the lower fairing all the way through the paint to the plastic...
doesn't make your situation suck any less. sorry i didn't have that wrench![]()
hurray, strikethrough!

im not naming names
but yea im just kinda pissed ya no? i really want to ride bad and ive been getting dicked around...
it really takes me a lot to get pissed off..and voice my opinion on things...so maybe thats why he felt he could just take his time
Sounds like you're dealing with a big-time liar and an all-out douche. Get your bike looked at by a pro like TLRMan when you get it back. Make sure that guy didn't screw anything up. It sounds like he definitely could have.
if you want it done right, do it yourself.
think i know that shop... forgot the name. it's right off exit 42 isn't it. the guy dont look too trusting. but then i dont trust anybody these days.
"fuckit!"
