I went for a ride yesterday with my friend and long story short the FJR decided to lie down and take a nap in a parking lot. The bike was pretty much pristine pre-fall and I want to get it back to where it was. My biggest concern in on the insurance end of things, with a 0mph drop, what is that going to do for the insurance rates? I haven't reported it yet, but should this morning if I am going to claim. I obviously do have full coverage with $250 deductible. Damage includes: mirror and mount, lower side wing, nose edge, engine casing, and left side exhaust. All deep scratches no busted plastic. I can fill and fix myself. I don't think anything really needs replaced. But I don't want to pay for this damage for the next 10 years with higher premiums.
Thanks
Probably cheaper overall to fix it yourself and move on.
Can you call your insurance company and ask?
I have a call into my broker, waiting to hear back. He's a friend of mine and will shoot me straight. I just wanted to see what anyone else's experience has been with no-speed falls.
If you weren't operating it when the damage occurred I would assume it would be handled similar to damage from an uninsured vehicle. In other words you will be responsible for the deductible and our points may or may not go up depending on how much damage it is. How did it happen did you see it or come out and it was on its side? Is it possible someone nocked it over? If that's the case your rates mmigjt not go up. Either way you will be paying deductible obviously, and the rest will depend on your carrier.

No, I saw it happen. The lot was a slight incline and I either didn't have the kick the whole way down or in a hole or something. Got off the bike and turned to see it fall. Definitely user error. I'd like to get money for repairing it, I just don't want to get screwed in the long run.
Should be covered under your comprehensive and not as a moving violation. Talking to my agent currently and waiting for an answer. Good stuff to know.
Just got this from my insurance agent.
If it fell over in the parking lot and was not under power it is not subject to surcharges. You fill out a incident form and have it fixed. Your going to need a estimate from a dealer I guess. And your going to pay out your deductible of course.
thanks, I'm going to call my company tomorrow. Truly appreciate the help.
Thats some good lookin out Rosco61....
My broker pretty much said the same thing. Claim it, no points, you've paid for the service.
Sweet. That's good.

Anyone know where I can get an appraisal done for repair? Yamaha dealer? I don't really know where to turn with a bike.
