Crazy... The BMW took the win. Crazy power numbers
The stats of the BMW are great and it obviously is a performer but the looks are not for me. I'll stick with my Duc.

Great on the street but mid-pack in race trim. What gives?
It's a serious question.
and I think the answer was just as serious, no one but the butcher could possibly efficiently utilize the efforts of BMW R&D on track...
Serious answer; it was developed for the street, not for the track, they are aiming this street bike towards street riders, which outnumber racers by a few... sorta kinda makes sense...

My guess would be that the engine's tech threshold is almost maxed out in street trim, and they can't really squeeze much more power out of it, at least not in the same way that it seems the other mfgs are able to. They may have done this to purposely have the most competitive street bike in the category, or it could be the predominantly oversquare nature of the cylinders limits its max potential.
Or maybe they just haven't yet figured out which screws to tighten because their WSBK program is still in its infancy.
Picking up my new one tomorrow...![]()

I rode with a ZX-10 for a bit yesterday. Seemed pretty quick. He kept up, anyway. It's all about the dood on the bike rather than the BIKE, after all. Guess it depends on what you're willing to risk at the other end of bitter, no?
I am still loving my CBR. Midrange power is amazing!!!
