I didn't think it was going to be that bad when we got there. By the end of the day, it was brutal. According to weather.com, next Saturday it's going to be 48 and raining in Ayer.
Going good so far. It's a lot to take in, but we have a good instructor.
My company is stuffing it to me big this time, sending me back to Iraq for a few weeks and maybe a lot longer if the planets align just right...I'm hoping my trip gets postponed/cancelled but that option looks grim. Last weekend may have been my last till the next one. Good thing is I can be prepared like a MoFo for the next one as I have a clue of what is expected now.
I've had allot of fun so far, even with all the prep-work!
Hey Eric,
Are you still going to be able to scan the stuff? Just want to start cross-referencing my books if you can't.
I'm liking it so far. Presenting/teaching is outside of my comfort zone, so it's really new to me, but otherwise, it's not bad![]()
Woohoo! Our class of Nine is intact. Eric had to reschedule due to workEveryone has passed their Skill and Knowledge Test and we've got our assignments for Teaching weekend.
I'm still considering whether or not I'm going back. Yesterday was absolute hell for me. I have two range exercises that I've only gone over once. I feel that after yesterday I actually regressed in my instruction/presentation skills on the range. On Saturday, I was confident as hell, Sunday shattered all that.

Stick with it mike. There are days like that.
I'm with Degsy. Stay with it. Some days are hard and stressful. Take the week to go over your range cards and talk out loud as if you were presenting the range exercise to a class. Helps you to know the material better and to feel more comfortable with it.
Good luck and if you need ay help feel free to drop me a line.

I would love to stick with it, but right now my confidence is totally shot. I feel 100% unprepared to face the students on the range. Yesterday I was in such a bad place mentally that when we did the skills test scoring and I was riding, I believe I got somewhere around 30-35 points(I got 0 when we were actually tested last week). I probably shouldn't have even been on a bike at that point in the day.
That is often due to information overload...take a breather, and get back into the game.
If you need to talk stuff out with someone, let me know.
I think you're stressing yourself out. Unless I missed something, I think you're doing fine and we'll have time to go over it on friday. If you really think about it, you only have one exercise, (9) since we're not actually doing the Skills Eval for the students.
If you want to spend some extra time talking through nine, let me know, I don't have any plans on wednesday. or you can email me.
Hang in there. The RCP is challenging, but once you're out there working with experienced RCs you'll find that helping people learn to ride is a lot of fun. Nobody is 100% perfect, we all learn from each other, and as long as you commit to keep learning and improving you'll be fine.

People almost invariably arrive at their beliefs not on the basis of proof but on the basis of what they find attractive.

Thanks for the encouragement. After sleeping on it, I'm feeling much better today.
Hopefully we'll be on the range on Friday instead of the classroom. I want to run through 9 without being stopped every few seconds to be corrected, that was throwing me way off the last time that I did it. I practiced 9 a couple of times last night to my dog, hopefully it goes as good as it did with her with the students.
We all passed!!!
