This is a write up in the Burlington Free Press about the Memorial Day VT Thunder Ride. Can anyone be so arrogant and narrow minded??

I swear it is because of all the liberal/progressive butt pirates in this state.

Yep.
Side 1. A bunch of people got together for a memorial ride. Some of them for their own coolness I am sure but most to pay tribute to the fallen.
Side 2. A bunch of knuckle draggin neanderthals that don't give 2 shits about the environment tried to show people how cool they are riding their big loud bikes through lil ol peaceful Vermont that has been taken over but progressive/liberal butt pirates and flat landers! Under the auspices of a tribute to the fallen.

Oh and don't get me started with "The War"
In case people are not aware. "The War" is over. It is now a peace keeping mission.

yea...lame. His arguments were bunk too- what a bunch of BS. "Is it possible that the din interrupts the quiet Memorial Day reflection of a family? A widow? A child? A church congregation? After all, that's what Memorial Day is about." - Yea because the ONLY way to remember and honor the fallen is by being resolutely silent...god forbid people actually make a ruckus to remind everyone what this holiday is really about... Not to mention he's just a flat out terrible writer...![]()
holy crap....i'm so glad i'm on this side of the river

Because if the word gets out...you can get more participants and ultimately more donations!!Too, if you're coordinating and executing a charitable memorial -- as Vermont Thunder is -- you ought not be doing it for the wide adulation of an adoring and acknowledging public. You're doing it for the beneficiaries, and if they got what you wanted them to get, who cares which TV station or newspaper gave you air time or ink?
If you guys hated that article wait until you read this one! It made me sick.

This reply summed it up for me:
Mr Keillor
I understand fully your frustration with trying to cross that street and see the art that you so eloquently have described. I too once tried to cross someplace that I could not get to. That place was a river in the Mekong Delta at the Iron Triangle. It was an attempt to save one of those would be old fat men with a pony tail, only we didn't.
It's about people comming to say goodbye to those that they once knew, and trying to explain why it took so long to get there. It's about healing, respect, and honor. Surly you understand these things. You should be aware of just how much this group does for surviving veterans, but more than that, for the families and children of the fallen. Tell me Mr Keillor, what have you done for these families, for these children?
I hope that I appreciate the arts as much as yourself, probably with less understanding but I wonder in all of this, have you been to The Wall. In all of Washington, it is I believe the most incredibly speaking piece of art ever created. I have yet to see people fall to their knees and weep in the National Art Gallery.
You did miss the best piece of art didn't you Mr Keillor.

I live in VT was born here and trust me all the good folk of Vt love a good Harley- Davidson and turn there noses up to us minority sportbike riders.
It's always been that way and always will be, so Ed should move back to Virginia, Maryland & PA wherever else he came from.......
He obviously hasn't figured out a gosh darn thing in Vt these last 9 years.
Or were the major markets out of his league and he needed to come to Vt and try to rally the liberals..... ( Loved the ride a bicycle ending )![]()
