A few months back I posted about wanting to get a small displacement bike. Well I finally found what I was looking for-
Its a 2006 Derbi GPR 125 grey market two stroke import, one of around 30 in the US. This one is a bit more special in that its been titled and is street legal. I was looking at Ninja 250's and Yami WR250X's but neither was quite doing it for me. The WR had the goodies but is really a dirt bike and not a street bike. The Ninja 250 all though just updated still has some pretty old school bits on it. Up close it just reeks of cheap too. When I found this bike I jumped on it. It's making ~30hp at the wheel and weighs 270lbs wet. The aluminum frame/swingarm, upside fork, radial caliper is leaps and bounds over the Ninja.
I am psyched!! I pick it up saturday morning. Seeing as I live in Austin, TX now I'll be riding it ASAP. Did I mention it was 78 here yesterday?

Weather is whacky here. It was 29 when I got up today and a high of 38. Thursday we're back in the 70's. Last week it was 81 at lunch and snow flurries at 9pm.
Here are some more pics-

Only see pic 4 of 5 but I gotta ask. Who made the rotor? won't stop my boat anchor, but nice on a light framed ride! Enjoy!

Rotor is a factory unit. Metrakit makes a full floating unit that I'll probably put on.
wowhow/where did you get that?!? I love when 2-strokes and sport bike combine

I was kind of bored and checking out the Aprilia RS50 online a few weeks ago. That led me to the Derbi GPR 50 and I was just sort of looking at pictures specs etc.. The two bikes were legal in 50cc form here until 04. While looking I came across a forum for sale post for this bike. It was only a few hours away and had Texas plates and title so I jumped on it. It was originally imported into Florida. Kind of funny how one thing leads to another and a new bike ends up in the garage.
Congratulations for you man... good luck for your new bike... ride safely man....

Thanks.
Speaking of ride safely my current helmet, KBC Force RR, was just added to the sharp ratings. It got a whopping 1 star rating. I ordered a new helmet yesterday that had a 5 star rating. The new one is an AGV S4 Stealth. The interesting thing is both helmets cost exactly the same amount. The sharp ratings are definitely redefining the old saying "how much is your head worth". Price seems to have little to do with the amount of protection you get. Of the top ten most expensive, $375-$715, rated helmets on their site exactly ZERO have 5 star ratings.
