New to me bike!!!

So my wait is over, I have been looking for the right set up and good deal combo and found it!

2001/2006 SV650IXXER
2001 frame, 06 Motor w/01 Carbs, GSXR front end and an F3 rear wheel in order to run 170 tires.
I will be looking for a second set of wheels, and a full set of race body work. (TL or GSXR)

For now this will be a track/street toy. (Hoping to try racing with this in the near future).

how the fuck does that work? carbs on an FI bike? seems like a lot a work to make it work but whatever. nice find. cant wait to see it at the track

I was a little taken back when he told me that.. THought the same thing... WTF? He said it was easier to do this swap then it was to fabricate a new wiring harness.. ? Thing runs pretty good, maybe a little too rich. He jetted it and changed the gearing specifically for Louden.

Any suggestiong you can give me for this bike is much appreciated Oxx! One thing is I want to know where to get body work, right now the upper sub frame is from a TL, same with the rear sub frame. Might stick with that just not sure which vendor is good for plastics.

Suspension definately needs tweaking, front end is way to soft, may have to give it to Mr. Kates.

i have hodbodies, but i bought it years ago. ive heard rumors that quality has degraded though. theres so many companies out there now and you dont necessarily need SV bodywork. trick mike had some GSXR1k bodywork for sale that he may still have. some fab work may be needed but you could make it work

just looking at the pics, those look line GSXR600 forks and thats definitely a F2/3 rear wheel not an F4

Yes a GSXR600 entire front end with Race Tech internals, and a F3 Rear wheel. Yes! Also has a Penske 2 way Rear shock that Kates did for him 2 seasons ago.

The motors themselves are pretty interchangeable Gen 1/Gen 2, and this bike was initially carbed, so no real changes other than the front end IMO. Nice setup - you'll have fun.

The guy gave me a whole ton of spare parts, Chicken Hawk tire warmers, Cheap deal on Slicks, new battery, new tires mounted. Can't wait to try it at Bomo on Monday!
