yea last year with my pretty clean driving record it was like $1400/yr for full coverage.
i hate insurance companies. I ride responsibly for the most part yet the 40 year old guy that gets drunk at a bar and rides his harley home only has to pay like $300/yr for the same thing. its bs.
skip the collision coverage and just ride like you don't have it! I haven't had collision on a bike in a loong time, my Buell's insurance is about $120 a year with Progressive

Progressive openly admits that their rates on sportbikes are high.

+1 on State Farm. I've had my auto policy with them since I was 16, and I've got all three of my bikes insured with them. Multi-vehicle discount, no-claims discount, etc... I'm paying $265/year (full coverage) for the '08 V-Strom 650 I just bought.
State Farm won't insure bikes unless you have a car insured with them, but some of their motorcycle rates are so good that it's worth switching your car to them as well if you can. Speeding tickets don't affect your rates (just accident/claim history), and their motorcycle rates are based on displacement, not style of bike. Great for those of us with sub-1000cc bikes, but I imagine their rates for a Triumph Rocket III might be a bit high.
