Today I called Progressive to update my insurance info and add collision to my policy. Like most or some riders I drop collision over the winter to save a little money. Well, today I called Progressive they told me collision had increased by $260 over 12 months. I asked the idiot on the other end of the phone why my insurance rate had gone up. My driving record is clean (shocking i know) no tickets, no accidents, not a damn thing and my rate went up. I asked the idiot why it went up. He couldn't give me a straight answer. He basically said it had nothing to do with my driving record or anything that I had done. Get this... my rate is determined by all motorcycles riders. Now I know all the douchbag riders out there have driven up the cost of insurance, but what the fuck!!! THIS IS BULLSHIT!!!!!
I'm feel like skull fucking someone, then curbing their dumbass!!!
I have Progressive as well.
Mine also went up.
Time to start shopping
skull fucking is not the answer...but that is bullshit, though when I went through my USAA Rep (they use Prog. for Moto's) she quoted my 9R $100 more than my 6R for a 12 month, bare bones policy...hopefully that shit hasn't changed in less than a month...bastards...GEICO anyone?

If you can get it in your state, State Farm, FTW!
My rates have stayed the same and even gone down some over the years considering my accumulated speeding offenses. They've done great by me!![]()
One potential downside to State Farm - The rumor is they will not cover damage from a track day, be it an instructional one or not. I gotta check on this myself now as I'm currently with SF.
check out Geico.... they were WAYYYY cheaper than the others..
if geico doesnt work, try Bike Line (markel?) insurance..as Mark (R7) I think he uses them..they had decnt rates

I have had Allstate but have opened my eyes to the raping. Motofreak. I have usaa for the house and cars but my quote from them was higher than anyone. I was literally on line specking progressive right before loggin on here, and if usaa uses them, I may need to cross check. I'm paying about 4 bills through allstate for the thrux and progressive wants under 220 for the same identical coverage. I feel violated by my agent![]()

Me too....they actually pay me $600.00 a year to insure WITH them. And +1 on State Farm. Been with them for 35 years.
Seriously, I don't insure my track bike at all. It's an air cooled 750SS and I have crashed it 3 times and it costs me so little to get back on the track it wouldnt make sense to insure.
My street bike costs $680 a year for comprehensive.

You mean Ducati's are not expensive?!

completely hypothetical here,
but what if everyone, and i mean everyone, stopped paying for their insurance. I just got cancelled for no-payment of my car insurance because i had to make a choice which was more important. health insurance, now mandatory: or car insurance always been mandatory. where is the line drawn here.
How much of the states hand is in these insurance giants pockets and how much would it affect these companies if for one month we all just didn't pay.
Progressive had the best price for me (28 yr old male, married, pristine driving record). Allstate wanted $20 more per month to STORE the bike than progressive wanted to insure it while I rode it. In Allstate's defense, supposedly their rates are being overhauled in May. Geico doesn't insure bikes in NH that I'm aware of...

So, you're talking about an increase of like $5/wk? I suppose maybe I'm just numb from paying through the nose here in MA over the years, but that's nothing I'd get too worked up about. Back when I'd gotten my first new street bike I was quoted over $3000 for full covereage. That was in VA. Way back in 19eightyfucking5! That was the list price of my new bike.

You are paying for the insanity of others. They have no
way of telling whether you are one of the crazies or not
so they make everyone pay. Insurance is a racket.
You HAVE to play and they get to make the rules.
And they even get to change them when they think they
are being too generous.
Go see SICKO... the health insurance industry is
even worse. Some countries feel that Basic Health Care is a
right (England, Canada, Cuba, France) not the US though.
They don't insure people to safe guard them, they insure
people to make insane profits. In cases like this its good that
Massachusetts has caps on various rates.

...another way to put it...we are all in the same risk pool. so, the squids drive up the risk and people like Doc drive it down. which do you think there are more of? squids or people like Doc...?

So, as a 21 year old, with a bad bad driving record, i called MC insurance and was quoted 530$ for 12 months, liability,
and 1200 for full coverage 12 months.
That high?

IMO, not really considering the "criteria" insurance companies use....if it can even be called "criteria"...
You're under 25 which is a huge factor and what contributes to higher rates is, you guessed it, your driving record.
I'm not an angel by any means but once I turned 25 my insurance went way down.
