what's wrong with just liking something more and being able to buy it?![]()
There's nothing wrong with that at all. And I'm not sure why people try and come up with reasons why someone should or shouldn't buy the bike they want, weather it be a 600 or a liter bikeI bought my R1 for 2 reasons, first and most important was the looks of the bike (fapfapfap) and second was because I got a smoken deal on it
As for the fit, the size of the bike isn't the only thing that effects how big or small it feels. Seating position, footrest location and clip-ons will change how the bike feels.

To your post I am![]()
The bikea you have come from totally different segments. FJR and FZ1 might fall under same category but one is designed for sports touring and hence bigger and more comfortable and the other is more inclined towards fun with a more comfy seating position (than an R1). While your Honda is doing exactly what it is supposed to do - crashing on Turn 1![]()

I ride a 7fiddy street and switched with Tricky Mike one day on his 1K. His 1K felt a lot bigger and lumbering to me...mine's an 07 and his is an 06.

I bought my 1000's so I can keep up with my friends on 600's who actually know how to ride....
New liter bikes are generally not any bigger. At 5'3 and i fit just fine on all the literbikes. The gsxr1k is a better fit for me than the 600rr or 636, I'm sure the reverse would be true for a really tall guy.

the real question is why does it matter?
really
WHY?
would you rather have more people on bikes no matter what type and size as it brings more awareness as more people have and ride bikes...
or should it be a closed "members only" group that only allows those that follow the same principles and training and gets so high on its own superiority that it becomes this empty club that no one wants to be a part of because they are so judgmental and "know" whats right, how it should be done, and when it should be done. if thats the case then it will slowly fizzle out because people wont like what they see and just move on to something else...
"hey karting looks fun"
if you ask me the size of the bike is of absolutely no relavance....
sure there are people that shouldnt be on a 1000, 750, 600, etc but most likely they fit into the shouldnt be on any bike category.
there are all types of bikes for all types of people there is not one reason that anyone should have to explain themselves as to what bike they ride and why they bought it, ride it, whatever. there is also no reason that anyone should be excluded from riding EVER.....
I simply said i liked the r1 as it fit me better next to the r6. I also love how it looks, liked the yamaha streetbikes ever since i was little and knew i would have one. I then waited to see what the 07 r1 would look like and made my decision.
theres my explaination. dont like GFY. I dont care.

not to mention these are the only 2 "numbers" you posted that have any relevance to fit....
as R7 said there are many factors aside from the bikes actual dimensions that one can weigh when they sit on bikes....
like how far the reach is for the handlebars
how much if any of the fairings dig into your knees or any other part of you legs
the angle of the seat as you are riding or stopped at a red light
the height of the footpegs
the curve of the gas tank
the shape of the seat
see these are "fit" issues
not the size of the bike.
btw R7 dont have to repeat himself now.![]()
I think people should ride what ever they like....that's why they make different bikes.
I personally prefer 600's i had bigger bikes when i was younger and as i got more experience i dropped down to the 600's. I like how quick and nimble the handling is....and i love passing 1000's at the track![]()
