Bike Tie Downs

Hey guys. Boner's question of the week is "How do i properly tie down a sport bike in the back of a pickup??" I've seen it done numerous times for transporting bikes around, and figure that im gonna have to do it pretty soon. College is almost over and I can't just leave the bike sitting around here, nor do I really want to make multiple trips (one for my stuff, then one all the way back for the bike). I'd definitely appreciate some advice on this subject. Thanks guys!

what kind of bike ? if you have any kind of faring, you will want to get a "canyon dancer" to keep the tiedowns off your plastic.

you can get away with 2 tiedowns on the front, ratchet the tiedowns until the forks are compressed about halfway. this should hold the bike as good as it needs to be held. some peeps add 1 or 2 more in back, but not really necessary, I have ridden in aToyota truck with 2 bikes thru DEalsGap sliding around corners and the bikes didn't budge, they were tied down 17 hours and 1000 miles earlier in MA

You gotta be careful with canyon dancers and the right handgrip/throttle, though.

Cool, I was trying to find out how to actually go about tying them down. Where do you attach the tie downs on the bike, and how do you keep it upright in the pick up bed? My bike is a Yamaha FZ600 so it has plenty of plastic on it. I've never heard of canyon dancers before.

A tip I have heard is that you can cut some spacers from 1½" PVC drain pipe that will solve that problem.
