    Bikes first steps in 05

Well she didn't go very far... Brought her out of the trailer turned the key with absolutely no responce...

I new the batterty was on it's last legs at the end of last season so I never did anything with it over the winter. So I hooked the battery up to my truck and got her going, let it charge for a little and when I took the cables off she shortly died.. Battery is toast. So I just wiped her down gave her a look over and found a few things I need for the new season. Tires I knew already were spent, Front pads are close to gone, back pads are very low on pads, other than that just a good cleaning, oil change and a few maintenance things to get geared up and ride.. Soon she will be road worthy again... Sad I want out now!!!!

Why isn't your alternator putting out enuf to keep the bike running?

His alternator probably is putting out enough but having to run it through the battery circut is where the problem is.

I was on a ride last sunday down at the Bean. We had to rescue adam , as his tiger had a dead battery. They tried to jump it with no sucess. If you put the leads from the jumper right to the leads into the bike with the battery not conected the bike would start and continue to run, but once the battery entered the equation, it died.

Best we could figure were broken plates in the battery not alowing the current to flow through. Perhaps when the acid level dropped over the winter the fluid froze , or just enough pot holes to rattle the battery into cracking a plate. Don't really know for sure.

I rode the bejesus out of that thing last season, thats why I can be found working on it a lot. I mostly just clean and do maintanence things, like the clean/lube the chain oil changes and always had tail light issues last year. Hoping to buy a new undertail and lights so I may be rid of that small issue for good... Still checking prices and styles. I made a list of what I wanted to do to the bike over the winter but never had the $ to do it.. If I could only unload this bimmer I'd be in great shape! Someone is coming to look at it Monday and sounds very interested.

Anyways I have had 3 Yammies and have nothing bad to say about them, but love my Honda so much more! Never really had any issue with my baby. The Battery is just part of a cycle, it was due as well as the tires which are completely used up! I couldn't have rode anywhere today if the battery was ok..
The other things I want to do, but the bike runs great without doing it, is change spark plugs, check/adjust valve clearance if nessicary, remove and clean the air filters, clean the chain and sprockets, lube the chain, fill her with 93 and GO!!!!

My HONDA started right up with no issues what so ever and it has sat in storage since December!

Things I did to her today were, a little cleaning, swap rims and return half squids track rims (left them with a great set of take offs), install new Sato slip-ons (replacing old defective Sato's) and went down to pick up set of plugs, which will be installed next weekend.

It was great to hear her again and can't wait to ride.

    Back For More

Its that time of year again!
I feel like a bear waking from hibernation.
Snowboarding definately did not satisfy my adrenaline rush needs all winter.
I should have the title to my new bike by next week and out on the roads.
    Can't wait.
Hope to see everyone on the roads soon.
Possibly in the mid 50's later this week....SWEET!
