Add another to the separate BT headset camp. I think everyone already hit on a lot of the advantages.
My GF and I both upgraded helmets this year, and it took a collective 30 minutes to swap the headsets onto the new helmets. You wouldn't be able to do that if a BT helmet sacrificed itself for your head.
I have my sena mounted in a RF-1100 and my new RF-1200 both have recessed pockets in the ear area for the speakers.
Also there is a button mic option for full face helmets instead of the boom mic FYI.
The safety factor that the communications brings to the game with a group ride can't be overstated. Once you try it with a friend or 2 you will be hooked.
Well it looks like I need to get myself a Sena set. Which one, not sure yet, but leaning towards the 20S.
2018 Harley Road Glide
2000 Ducati 900ss
2003 Harley Softail Deuce
I'm working on my 20s review. In short, I would not buy again, at least with the way it's working right now. Give me a couple more days before making a decision.
Do they still sell the SMH5? Mine's been nearly bullet proof. Would most definitely buy again.
Yes. Amazon.com: Sena SMH5-01 Bluetooth Headset and Intercom for Scooters and Motorcycles: Automotive
I would buy again as well.
True, but... Well, less doors. That's all I've got.
What's it not doing? The reason I ask is my first 20S worked fine but was constantly dropping the intercom. I contacted Sena who suggested (after the requisite restart, reset BS) I return it to them and expect a new unit in about 6 weeks. Unacceptable. Sena forum to the rescue! After an hour of digging I found it was common for units with serial numbers below 150xxxxx to drop the intercom on the reg - my unit was 141xxxx. I returned my first one to Amazon and picked a 150xxxx from Cycle Gear and all's well. Works as promised.
