Ok I know these two bikes typically aren't being looked at by the same person...
I am thinking adding another motorcycle to my collection. This will be a bike that will most likely never see the track (iv said that before and it was a lie). But the focus is mainly street usage.
I have always wanted a motard. I don't know why. I really don't. I think they are cool and fun and very dangerous. Like in my head you clear jumps and stuff like that on a motard. Ideally I have it in my head as you take a motorcycle on places where typically motorcycles don't go. Maybe it's such a strong desire cause I never had one. Maybe I'll get it and regret it in a day. Who knows?
Most people I have talked about this with suggested a DRZ. I am open to ideas and suggestions.
Even let me know what you possibly have for sale. Need to be able to be registered and pass inspection in MA.
Now on the BMW. Does it make any sense to me? No! I already have a GSXR1000 with a lot of money invested/wasted on it. It is the fastest bike I have ever owned and ridden. I love it to death and I will never sell it. Will buying the BMW be the same thing? Possibly. Maybe very close to it. But the BMW is sexy and maybe even faster. It's also newer and more updated.
But essentially I am buying a newer version of my bike and keeping my bike so it is kind of a waste..?
I know I probably don't make a lot of sense but try to understand and give me any advice you guys think can help or links with anything for sale that can possibly satisfy my stupidity and ability to blow money on things I don't need..

Like you said in your first post, it seems to me that buying that BMW would be too similar to what you have in the garage now (your gsxr). If you're going to get something new, you should try something different and go with a motard if that's what you like. There's plenty of other options out there other than a drz too, but those are certainly on the more reliable side.
Go with the SuMo, I have 2 sportbikes and got a DRZ400SM last year. I didn't ride the Sportbikes at all last year, SuMo was a blast to ride and bonus off-road capable.
I need something that will be easy to maintain. Easy to the level of a regular street bike. I'm sure the CRF will be more power and fun but I am ok with giving that up in order to not have to work on it all the time.
The sport bike sits in my driveway while the DRZ400sm gets daily use. I can see over cars, I'm comfortable and wheelies happen. Best $5K I've spent on motorcycles yet.

See? Definitely buy my bike. Mine hasn't seen much action since I got a dedicated dirty bike. All it needs is a rider!

Also, I throw in getting Jim drunk for you. (Should only cost me 2 skinny vodka sodas)

WR450. Packs a bit more punch than the drz, not quite as much as a crf450 or other MX450. Maintanence levels are way below a crf, little bit higher than drz.

If you're keeping the GSX-R, go look at the S1000R (one R, not two). It's the new naked 1000RR. It's kinda silly to have a second, full fairing, liter bike.
I might have fallen in love with it yesterday. Like, "anybody want to buy a low mile S4RS?" kinda love.

Dude SNAG THAT WR450! That's the setup right there. It's not horrible to maintain but it's definitely got more power than the DRZ. Plus it looks ballerific.
I was talking about the one above but this is even better.
