Anyone ever have to get a bonded Title in MASS??

So, after not riding for a year and never registering the RC51 I got last december, I now can not find the paper work. (Title & B.O.S.)

I am very pissed off at myself for not putting this in my Fire Safe..

I am going to continue the search heavily, but looked in all the places I thought it would be only leaving very few places where it could be.

I can't get a hold of the previous owner in order to have him get a new title for me and send a new B.O.S. for me. That would just be too easy...

So my last resort is Bonded title which will allow me to register and get insurance, but I am not familiar with this process.

From what I understand I would have to get a Bonded Title for three years and if no claims against the bike are made they clear the title and put the vehicle in my name. In order to do this bonded title process I have to put up 1 1/2 times the value of the motorcycle into the bond. I get the Money returned plus any interest the bond gains once the three years clears.


Does this mean I can not sell the bike for 3 years? If it doesn't I'm sure it would be close to impossible to ever sell it until the Bonded title was satisfied.

There HAS to be a way around this Mike . Did you check with the registry about looking up the former owner ? Local cops maybe send you in the right direction ? My son got his 1970 car registered without a title , wrote his own BOS , had a little help from a cop though , know any ?

He never titled the bike in his name so he couldnt. Only the original owner could do this.

If you guys only knew all the moving around I have done while remodeling the house you would understand how things get misplaced. Bruce you should know... But yes I am a for not putting such important paperwork as this in the fire safe...
