I like the Sidi line. Quality stuff. Find a boot that has a lot of adjusters...and good ventilation for the summer.
Here are Dainese "in" boots. They're designed to go under leathers and fit much more snug to the leg. http://www.dainese.com/us_en/motorbi...n.html?cat=125
The Sidi Vortice's, as mentioned previously, have a lot of adjusters and you can probably get them pretty snug under a pair of jeans.
If you want the BEST for protection, you'll pay for it, but http://www.helimot.com/shopbootsdisp...d=19&cat=Boots. The Security Evo boots have an inner boot that provides all of the protection and fits snug. The outer leather boot has the sole and a leather wrap for the inner and won't really matter if it's slightly loose around your ankle.
I'll 2nd theon the Supertech R boots. Very comfortable and Alpinestars customer service has been pretty pretty good.

how do the a* smx plus boots fit? i have a chance to get some for a good deal
The laced portion will fit snug. The outter boot may be loose but it doesn't really matter.
Where are you located? They're pretty widely available. Just find a place that carries them and go try some on.

I won't trash your boots Richie as I wore them for a while. Only problem I had with them is sort of riding position related. In the sport bike riding position (bent knees) pants tend to ride up a bit above the ankle. Wearing these ICON boots the pants would ride up above the boot or get caught on the top and not drop down all the way. Maybe I just wore my pants too short but I did get that unprotected feeling when there was a gap between the boot and the pant leg.
