So, This thread is probably long overdue for me since i have ridden about 65k miles in my career and have never had an incident while the bike was moving (i have had two non-moving tip overs on my previous bikes)
I was riding through the neighborhood where i live on my way out of town to head to a concert the next town over that my father in law was playing in. the roads in my neighborhood are mostly all dirt.
So, i was traveling at about 15-20 MPH down the road when a dude in a maroon Chevy Silverado pulling a trailer pulls out in front of me. I jamb on the brakes and the front tire locks up on the dirt road and tosses me onto the right side of the bike. Luckily it was at such a slow speed that i didn't even fall over, just the bike.
Now. here it gets annoying....
The guy pulls up and:
Dude: "are you alright"
Me: " yeah, but WTF? I was going straight"
Dude: "Yeah, and?"
Me: "AND?!? You pulled right out in front of me coming out of a side street and i was going straight!"
Dude: <Shrugs shoulders and drives of>
I grab my bike and pull it up, try to start it and the darn tip over sensor had tripped so I looked at the back of his truck for a plate number and the trailer had no plates. By the time i got the bike started he was gone and i could not find him.
I will be looking for him tomorrow in the daylight since i went to the concert and it is now dark.
Here are the pics. It is mostly plastics, but the frame got scuffed and the engine covers also scuffed.

Hope you find him.
hope you get the bastard and press charges!

Too bad about the tip over and I do wish you luck finding the douche who pulled out in front of you.
This does raise a question I've been wondering about. If a vehicle does something stupid and in the course of avoiding their stupidity I crash my bike without damaging their car or any other property except my bike, is the other car required to stop and exchange papers?
shall we form a posse?
Dude file an accident report. He left the scene.

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
. . . . frame sliders. . . . glad your ok
I don't know if it differs state by state or not, but I know 1st hand that in Tennessee, no contact means it's not the fault of the other guy.
Sucks man, glad you're OK. IME if there's no contact, he's not at fault, unfortunately. Should have clipped his unplated trailer, then he'd be in a world of hurt legally and paying your bills. (I know, easy to armchair QB after the fact but at the time you're just trying to save your own ass). Without contact I think your best bet is a length of rope and a tall, stout tree, unfortunately.
Go file a complaint at the local police department, and let them know exactly where you pulled out of.
Chances are if they guy was leaving that residence with a trailer, someone will know who he is.
He was coming out of a side street turning left across my lane of traffic and I missed him, it is a small community so i have been looking for his truck so i can find out his plate number and at the very least report it. Without that information i just have to tell the Police that i fell over...
Welcome to the crash club. It's a shitty club to be in.
Hopefully you find that douche canoe.
you fell over even with a plate number... sucks the guy was an idiot... you have a kid now, you can't even retaliate! haha
Seriously, this is just a kick in the balls you can't do anything about... If you had run into the side of the truck, you'd be able to report an accident though.
If you do report it, it can and will probably end up on your insurance (if you have insurance - not sure if you live in NH)
Yep...you had the right of way, of course. What a dick! File the report. At the very least, it's on file and the ins. co. will have it for any details needed. Glad nothing happened to you. I hope karma takes a bit bite out of that fuckers ass!
That sucks. Sorry to hear man. Could you please clean up the oil residue on that cover though...geez

Ok so some have said that the driver may or may not be at fault.
What about the fact he had an un-plated unregistered trailer on the road?
