I am just curious if the brand between Suzuki GSXR, Honda CBR600RR, etc. are that different. I know the seating position is different but all I have ever ridden are Honda's aside from my original Suzuki Katana which would not compare.
The reason I am asking is because first I have never ridden a GSXR. The dealer stated that the GSXR is the bike that sells out every year which means everyone has themnot so sure I want the same thing everyone else has but...
They told me they could put me on the following bikes
2011 GSXR 750 - $11,500
2011 GSXR 600 - $9,900
I was going to buy a used bike however I don't have the equity to buy person to person as I will only have about $4100 cash to put down. The dealership also has a finance company RFC which will finance me. Knowing this fact the dealer has the upper hand and wants to charge me
$8,500 for a 2009 CBR600RR with 8k on it which I know is way too much but since they have the upper hand they wont budge from the price.
So I am debating on just buying a new bike for the cost difference and I think they know that which is why they wont budge.
Thoughts?
Are you kidding me? $4100 bucks will buy you a perfectly good used bike, jerky. Don't be a twat, ya dingleberry.
Damn kids...

Seriously... buy what you can afford to PAY OF RIGHT NOW. You don't wanna end up right back in the same situation you just put yourself in with a wrecked bike and payments.
You can score a perfectly good used bike for 4100 bucks and completely skip paying the HUGE PREMIUM of having something brandy shiny new.

1) Can you not get a loan from your bank? I was able to get a loan from my credit union for the full price of the used bike that I wanted to buy (I didn't need any cash and it was a private sale)
2) I bought my SV for less than $4,100, and it ran like a top until I wrecked it a few years later, and then my insurance company gave me $100 more than I paid for it.
Why are you so set on such an expensive bike that you admit to not being able to afford?

and your insurance will be sky high now with the 4 point surcharge from your most recent incident. Especially with a brand new 600/750
There's a perfectly fine used SV650 with plenty of tasteful mods on sale here for like 3 grand.
There is also a Ninja 650R on sale here for $2800.
Both would be cheaper to insure.
Both would be cheaper to fix.
Don't waste your money on a new bike.
you stated that the finance company was RFC which is the in house financier for Parkway, GBM, Cycles 128, so right there you are already getting screwed. Find another dealer. At the very least if you are going to stay with them they have used bikes that they will also finance through RFC. I bought my VTR from them and I will never go back.
Yeah, really. Most I ever spent on a bike was $5000. Used is the way to go in this market.

Joe...my 2 cents...
Dont waste your money on a new bike. Take the $4k and get a nice used bike. Between the dealer mark-up, the interest rate % on a $9-$10k bike , and the insurance rates you are going to pay on it...you are gonna get raped up the ass.
Go get yourself a nice used rr or similar 600 bike.
Don't get sucked into the dealer BS....$4k will buy you a really nice used bike.

take into account that the last 5 people to post in this thread all have bikes greater than 5years old. hell most of the bikes on my wish list are no longer in production

Mine is 10 years old! And it only has 11k miles on it (bought it last year with 4k miles)
My f4i cost me $4k and it is mint...not a scratch on it.....
There are plenty of used bikes, in new condition, for fractions of the cost! Don't waste your money! And don't let the dealers get in your ear, they are EVIL!

Guys listen, he has no choice. He has to buy from that dealer, he admitted it.

I will sell you mine for 6500. 4100 cash up front with the rest in very *reasonable* monthly payments. Am I high on the price? Maybe but what are you going to do? I am still undercutting the dealer.![]()
I only have to go through the dealer if I want to finance the bike. I will have around 4100 maybe close to 5000 (after i cancel warranties on the other bike) to go private party. I am a bit reluctant to do that because I am just starting with bikes and would not want to buy a bike beat to hell and have it die on me a few months to a year later
Anyone know anything about this bike: http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/mcy/2647612575.html
I know it needs parts and when i called he said it just needed the upper fairing. I can tell it needs more than that, upper, windscreen, mirrors, etc. Not sure if he has them or not but I could see myself getting this and fixing it...
Located in Brighton, MA.
Thoughts on that?
I bought a bike new, it was a left over and I walked in, said "Here's what you pay for the bike, here are the dealer holdbacks and rebates, I added $200 for you, this is what I want to pay."
They took my offer and I paid in cash.
I'm not saying buying a new bike is stupid, I'm saying the OP is stupid and not well informed enough to do it without getting assraped.
Original
