Just got an instant message from a buddy. Took his KTM Duke in for some maint today, and the shop calls him and tells him they got all that fixed and that they are sorry but they dropped it in the parking lot. I'm just waiting for him to call later in a rage.

I would be total bullshit.
They better be giving him a "rental" while they
are fixing his for their stupid ass mistake
Yeah I'd be all over them to eat the original bill and make the bike pristine again.

Are they not going to fix it??
They are liable
Yeah I'm sure they'll fix the stuff from dropping it. But they need to forget about the bill for the stuff he brought it to them for in the first place. especially if they want his business again.

I don't think they should comp it all but they
should do something for the inconvenience.
period
I'm with them. What they should do is repair what was damaged and maybe give him a loaner bike until they have it back to the way it was before they dropped it. Maybe a free oil change or something down the road to make up for the inconvenience but squashing the original bill all together is asking a lot.

WTF....none of you have ever had an 'accident'? You think they did it on-purpose? Make it like it was, maybe throw in something for 'good will' if it creates inconvienience because he has to go back. But throw in all the work for free and getting all worked up about it??? dumb....

That sucks. I'd be pissed.
Hope they do it the right way. I'm sure they will, they must also feel pretty bad because word gets out about that stuff and it could suck for them. I'm sure everything is going to be fine. I'd still be pissed off for a while.![]()

Not sure if it applies here...should your ins. know about this? Just so they can make sure the work to fix the drop damage is done correctly? Just a thought...it may help to CYA in case some hidden damaged part(s) shows up later.
It's not getting something for nothing. It's about them repairing thier reputation for dropping his bike. And it wasn't something he damaged. It's stuff that stopped working and now it's out or warranty and was probably 50 bucks worth of parts a lamp and a fork seal. If he was in there getting it repaired for dropping it himself, I agree they don't comp the cost of the orignal repair, but maybe give him a discount. Better to tell people they made it right and gave me a little extra than have him out there telling everyone they dropped his bike.

they dropped it, I'm sure accidently and not doing stupid shit, they called him to let him know
what should they do differnent, hide it ? try to bullshit him that the bike isn't ready from the ordered repairs until they can get any damage fixed
I'm sure the dealer has insurance
I would only ask for a free loaner, and bet that I would get it just by not freekin out and trying to demand more than I could possibly be entitiled too
shit happens, wtf is the big deal
for the record, I'd be willing to bet that dealers employees drop a lot fewer bikes than the owners themselves
