Seems like it would have been a good fit, but its pretty obvious HD was afraid Buell might actually succeed without them.

According to the 3 part interview in Cycle World online with Erik Buell, EB thinks it is so that HD dealerships do not loose the parts and service support for Buell, so that may be why they didn't sell the brand.
