So far so good w/ the Honduh....

Hah ha, Nitrous, track beatings, air cooled, tweaking maps & rev limiters, Yea, well you know. I push the envelope a little far some times.

Yeah, I might try a few trackdays this year, still tuning the bike for the new exhaust and intake, might try to get the chain conversion from EBR too.

What's better about the chain? Do the belts slip at all?

Alex its not the belts slipping, and not even their reliability.... BUT being able to buy another 520 chain if the one on a bike breaks is a great advantage over trying to get a belt for the Buell. I haven't experienced it personally yet, but have heard people having difficulties getting parts (go figure). Don't get me wrong, the belt is quite unique in that it is truly maintenance free, but if it goes my bike could possibly be down for a while trying to get a new belt. EBR has the chain conversion which includes a whole new swingarm (read: $$$$) and if i was going the route would probably just do the whole suspension amongst other things.

I guess riding a suzuki I never think of things from a parts availability stand point. lol

It would probably be to much to ask that one of the belts from the HD's would be the same length. lol

Same reason my cat howls at night... He's been fixed but hasn't realized it yet and knows something is missing from his life... just doesn't know what it is and is still searching.

are the belts expensive? why not just buy one (or a few) now for less money than the chain conversion and hold on to them?

biggest reason buell racers switch from belts to chain has nothing to do with reliability, belt slippage or parts availibility. it's all about being able to change gear ratios. i'm pretty sure there is only two differant rear pullys availible. with a chain your sproket choice is damn near unlimited.

    Re: Buell Riders! Show yuh-selves!

On the 1125R there are two rear "pulley's" but they are 1125R and 1125CR specific. I have heard of 1125R owners stripping teeth after a while do to the power difference between the 1203 HD motor and the 1125 Rotax mill.... That said, I do love the belt, so I will most likely just buy a spare and coil it up as one BadWeb member did with good success.

OH! Damn, I thought it was some way of strengthening the belt by way of something fun and dangerous.

You know, there are several Buell specific forums out there...

ANSI thought the hawk was the only bike you vermonters were allowed to ride. Interesting....
