Looking for rain gear..

Anyone have rain gear from any of these brands: Dowco, DryRider, Nelson-Rigg , Teknic, or Tour Master??

I'm looking for some rain gear that will be completely dry in a heavy down-pour while riding and small enough to carry around, any suggetions?

I have a Tour Master 2 piece suit. It hasn't seen anything real heavy but I did do 30min in steady rain on the highway and was dry. Thing flaps like a bastard though...
It packs down into a bag about 6x8x3. Won't fit under any of my seats.

I wear a Gortex rain jacket and pants, and I stay dry.

I have a Motoport jacket and first gear pants that I bought separately. Total cost was under $100. Figure another $20-40 for boot + glove covers if you don't have those.

I have been in horrible, nasty, disgusting rainy weather for a couple hundred miles before and it really sucks and took me a couple tries to get it right.

Boot and glove covers are very important. "Waterproof" boots are probably not waterproof unless they have a Gore-tex liner or something. I learned this the hard way and my raingear didn't keep me from getting so cold I was shivering once my boots got soaked.

All those brands are probably fine, but make sure whatever you get has elastic or drawstring closures around the base, and around the sleeves. You'll want a Velcro flap over the zipper as well, and around the neck.

I have a lot of Gore-Tex "technical" clothes and gear. For other activities I think it is excellent, but for motorcycling rain gear I don't miss it so I was happy to save the $100-200 that it would have added to the cost. It is really fantastic for a lot of other outdoor activities but if you're not sweating it's no better than cheaper stuff, and riding a motorcycle in the rain has never made me sweat much cause you're just sitting there. I really think it's worth it in boots though, for any activity. It also seems pointless if you've got leather on underneath, and if you've got cotton underwear, jeans, or a cotton sweatshirt underneath that.

FYI,
I wasn't advocating Gortex, it just so happens that I had this from other outdoor activities, (camping, horseback riding). I didn't see the need to spend more money, when what had I found out work well.

I wasn't really disagreeing with you.

Only reason I didn't do that is the hood on my jacket would just collect water and drip it down into my back which would really SUCK!

Is that an after market part? all the bikes I have eer had only came with 1-N-2-3-4-5-6, is one of those the rain gear?

Yeah.. its one of those upgrades so the bike's software works better..

Thanks for the responses.. I'll stay away from hoods unless they fold into the colllar.. I'll probably go with the Tourmaster.. glad to hear it works ok.. I hope their jackets are as durable as their tankbags..
