Best chain lube , and adjusting chain ?

I heard honda makes the best chain lube ? Is this true ? My dad and uncle havn't had a chain bike in a while so they don't know which chain lube is the best right now. Basically , I want something that doesn't splatter all over the place when I ride after I lubed it.

Also my uncle is going to show me how to adjust the chain tomorrow , but how many times do I adjust it ? Like once every 300 miles or something ?
