My thoughts exactly! It's sad that people like this exsist. There was a really bad crash this summer in a group ride that I didn't happen to go on in Hudson Valley, NY. An under experienced rider crossed a double yellow to catch up to a group and crashed into a cruiser carrying a passenger and then another cruiser crashed into them. I am glad that I didn't go on this ride, I almost did. All parties involved got badly injured.

so as much as this guy sounds like a douche, why did you go instigating this guy V? your preaching about safety and track riding I thought was pretty annoying. I understand about trying to get someone like that to realize that their riding is dangerous, but he made it clear he and his crew would not ride with us since they ride a different ride. When he said that, shoulda just left it at that.

When I first contacted him, it was not for instigating anything. Saw him on a reef hobbyists forum and that he rides, I contacted him. When he started saying that they like to go extreme speeds in towns, cities, anywhere on the streets and highway, they don't give two shit about cops and like to "toy around with them", and specially when he said they don't give a shit about their own riders...I thought this guy needed someone's 2 cents, even tho I now realize that he didn't care (what if he cared tho? Then I wouldn't have done it for nothing).

Like Brewmaster said...and like so many others do on here...you go out on the backroads where there is no one, go ride the highway in VT where there is no one. But why make it a point to ride like an asshole everywhere, where your days are counted until you kill someone? If I was preaching, so be it. I never claimed to be perfect, but I tell you what...a cop comes after me or my group, I'll stop. One of the riders in my group crashes, I'll stop. And I'm sure most of us in here do care enough about others on the roads to use some common sense when it comes to when and where you choose to let it loose.

After reading this it reminded me of some of my rides a long time ago. Looking back on my past, myself and a few of my buds would ride regularly at 120+ speeds for hours. We would wear proper equipment and respected the speed limits in towns but once in the back roads we were flying. It was very fun and has cemented some life long friendships. This all occurred in upstate NY on some truly enjoyable and challenging roads. All I can say is we were damn lucky! Nobody got hurt(bad) and there were only a few get offs, luck was on our side.

Well I decided to do a California Superbike school on Watkins Glen and then everything changed! It was so much more enjoyable and challenging to ride at level where my skills were being tested(and developed), it was safe and it was legal! This led to that bunch of guys and I to all ride out to the last AMA event at Loudon. One of the friends I rode with was crewing for Eric Wood so we camped at the track for the whole event. What a blast!

Ok that inspired us to ride back up for the last weekend of LRRS that season and take the Penguin school and get our licenses. It rained the whole 2 days of Penguin which was just fine for my skill level on a rented EX500! Basically I sucked, but boy was it fun!

Advancing to today. I am starting my third season of LRRS racing and I still have a long way to go in developing my skills! The challenge is still there and the friends I have made at the track are sure to be included in my list of life long moto Buds! If these aren't good enough reasons to at least give the track a try I don't know what is.

+1.... suggestion and opinion are one thing, preaching to ignorance is another. Not defending him by any means and I hope I never cross paths with such a person, but no matter what you say to him he'll never agree and become a responsible rider.
