Got ripped off...

So does anyone know how much it costs to replace the 2 side fairings on a 2000 honda cbr600f4. Looked out the window and my bike cover was missing, so I was like WTF? Then on my way out I went to check on the bike and there was broken plastic and the screws that hold the fairings on, on the ground. The bastards took out the screws, but they managed to break a few clips and some plastic. I'm a little pissed right now! I wish I could catch those fuckers in action...!!!!!!

HBerry: I live in Manchester, where NOT surprisingly enough, this happened. I brought the bike to Concord today so I can lock it in the shop until I figure out what I'm going to do with it. There are no scratches or anything. Whoever did this knew what they were doing, they left a few of the screws on the ground and a couple of broken pieces of plastic. Police came and gave me the case number and I'm waiting to hear back from my insurance company. I'm just glad that the thieves were nice enough to not destroy anything they couldn't take. The ignition wasn't popped and the disc lock I had on it wasn't messed with. I think that maybe that might have helped prevent the entire bike from being stolen...who knows. Chances are they they only wanted the fairings, but it's nice to think that it discouraged them atleast. Anyway, I'm looking at putting a 2 way scorpio alarm on the bike as well as maybe frame sliders, and whatever else now that it's half taken apart!

edited to add: I just realized in this pic that they moved the disc lock reminder cord to the top of the turn signal so it was out of the way for them to get at the screws...atleast they were curteous enough to not cut it too! (I'm OCD, so I notice these things)

Go down the road a bit and take a spin through all those apartment complexes up around Manchester Gardens (Manch Gardens, Pinewood Estates, Devonshire Village, etc.). I bet you find a black/yellow F4 up there. Seriously. I bet they're too fuggin' dumb to think you'd look THAT close. If ya want someone to 'back ya up' I can make arrangements to take a spin through there with ya...

This was a part-specific hit. If they wanted the bike, they woulda had 2 or 3 guys in a van and just tossed the whole bike in. Locks and the such make little difference. Some little fuckstick layed his bike down and got what he needed from yours...

You'll find your plastic on a streetbike that someone's riding not far from where you had it hacked. I can almost promise you that. There's a reason they targeted YOURS: They see it parked there on a regular basis. Again, they're not far from you. You can probably count on that...

I was going to say almost this same exact thing. I lived right down the street from you a couple years ago at Pinewood before my wife and I bought our condo in Pinardville. There's definitely a lot of scum up there, so it might be worth a ride up and around.

If there's a CBR board or two you might check the WTB section, he may have posted there before he resorted to theft.

And I agree with Stoneman, your place isn't a well-traveled road unless someone lives there or knows someone who lives there. Keep your eyes and ears open for other sportbikes, and question those you see living there. Don't even let on about the theft...just tell them you are interested in going on some rides with other sportbikers when you see 'em. Who knows, maybe one day you'll find your guy. It's a long shot, but I've had my cars broken into before at my parent's on Boynton St...and you'll do anything to find out who did it...

Been checking ebay and a few forums that I know of and haven't seen anything. I agree that this was part specific, someone needed them for their bike. It would have been so much quicker to just lift the bike into the back of a truck than to take the fairings off. I know OF one person in Manch that has the same exact bike, color and all...I don't know him personally. I'm gonna research some more and see if I can come up with some info. I'll probably cruise the area to see what's out there, but it will be hard to say "those are mine" because I'm sure there are tons with the exact same color scheme. I'm probably gonna let this go in the end, chances are I'll never find the SOB...but what goes around comes around. He'll pay for it in the end.
edited to add: however, if I DO find out, then I'll go from there, but something will be done. I'm holding out for a small chance atleast that he/they will be found... so if you guys hear something you know where to find me. Thanks again guys.

Just make sure you keep an eye out around you. Chances are some dipshit drove by it and recognized it the same bike his buddy needed parts for...

Keep an eye out for an F4 with mismatched uppers/lowers, primered body work and shitty paintjobs on what would otherwise be a great looking bike...

This was a local hit (IE: not part of a ring, they woulda taken the entire bike), most likely prank-type theft. The skilletbrain that did this will most likely fuck up and ride the thing right past your apartment this summer. Lie in wait...
