Well, left hand curves are less scary than right handers. Right handers over cooked will send you into oncoming traffic. Left hand turns are more confident, although guard rails, signs, trees etc... arn't that appealing either.

he's talking about car tires. for highway drivers the exits and on ramp are on right side. so wear more on left side. the bike would wear more on right side and middle.

At MSF, we see people struggle to turn right more often. Throttle control is tougher because your right wrist gets pinched as the bars turn right.

    Because Loudon is counter clockwise.

Getting back on topic, I had no chicken strips with only 4 months of riding under my belt.... and I was by no means a proficient rider. I'll look at the tires of a rider I haven't ridden with to get an idea of where they're at, but I don't put a whole lot of importance on them because sometimes the strips lie.

    Re: Chicken strips

Chicken strips are fun to look at (and get rid of), but ultimately they're meaningless. Example: my V-Strom 650 has no chicken strips because the tire has a relatively flat profile and it's easy to lean the bike far enough to eliminate the chicken strips. My Triumph Bonneville cafe racer has a 150 rear tire on a relatively narrow rim, so the tire's tread profile is very rounded and wraps far around to the side of the tire. It wouldn't be possible to get rid of the chicken strips on that bike because it would drag hard parts before the edge of the tread got scrubbed.

the "shiny" part of your tire near the edges, where it doesn't touch the ground.

I have 1/8" on mine, but I don't think the location of the pegs would let me scrub that. I had the bike leaned so far over yesterday that the pegs were scraping and they're still there

Because righties have an easier time turning to the left. It feels more natural. When I do spins wakeboarding I'm far more comfortable spinning counter-clockwise, and that is also the direction ovals are raced.

Well, until I hit the track I never really went fast enough to scrub the tires all the way... now I get questions about what is wrong w/ my tires, strips on the street are ok from what I have gathered. Or maybe, I just suck that bad

    Re: Chicken strips

Left turns (from a stop) are generally about three times as long as right turns. The left side wears out more.

I had very small chicken strips on my first bike. This did not indicate that I was a good rider. I was leaning the wrong away and scraping the pegs even on slower turns.

    Exactly.
That's a good point about tire profile... the tires that came with my bike were much rounder, whereas the corsa IIIs have a much more aggressive profile. They take much more lean to use all of them. And they're so sticky

i think it might have to do with the type of tire profile. i wouldn't try any further if i were you. now post the pic of scrap peg.

now if you have PP tire and you dont hang off all the time, it just means you haven't push hard enough. doesn't mean you can't or won't.
