Ordered this setup today after a lot of reading and research. It's a bit pricey, but from what I can see it's the best protection and comfort you can buy.
The back protector: The VERY comprehensive tail bone coverage of the race version (which is the one I got) along with the shoulder blade coverage and CE level TWO impact rating are what sold me, along with the thin profile and spine-contour.
Chest protector: It has two sets of velcro allowing it to attach to the straps of the back protector. I actually think this might work just as well as a single back/chest unit because you can adjust the chest unit's position on the straps for optimal placement.

How much $$$ ? I've got a Bohn but it sucks to put a 1pc suit on with it, that one looks like a better design.
I mated same one to a no name back protector I got on an Ebay store
real happy with both
these guys are good source $59.00
while on subject I got nylon undersuit from them too, makes suit on / off easier and will be nice in summer heat
I'll be set up on T3 or tooling around on my Buell pit bike Saturday if anyone wants to see the stuff
Nice.
Similar to the one I use...

By the way, if anyone wants to see the impact armor setup, it's at every TTD... actually, about 10 people that do trackdays now have them.
Me too.. the hard armor in my jacket has save my elbow from the pavement and my shoulder from a big rock during 2 testing sessions.
Definately interested in the chest protector. Wondering if I can mate it to my Teknic back protector...

In leathers, you don't need any shoulder straps.
My back protector strap simply wraps around my chest protector... and the leathers hold it all together.
I've said it a few times, but Ill say it again, I love my impact armor. I cant get on a bike without it.![]()
Supa Motarded! If you see me backin it in, keep watching...Im about to crash
Zip Tie Alley #237
It was around 220 for the back protector and around 60 for the chest protector.
I will have to let you guys know how it feels when I try it on. But, I bought it based on reviews that it is pretty much the most comfortable thing you can get that still provides adequate protection.
It showed up, but I had it shipped to where my garage is (assuming you've seen my other thread) so I can't check it out until I go out there.

Yeah, I got the same "no name" back protector from ebay. Worked well in my crash last year.

So I was able to try on the stuff with my new suit the other day.
Back protector first impressions:
Pros: This back protector is TOP NOTCH. Really comfortable, great fit, adjustability, and construction, nice and thin but still CE level 2 certified, full tailbone and shoulder blade coverage, the works.
Cons: There are two. One, they sent me the unit with camo trim, when I ordered black. Two, I found it for 100 dollars cheaper somewhere else after the order.
Chest protector first impressions:
Pros: Clever attachment method, looks like it would provide thorough protection, seems to stay in place well.
Cons: Very thick. Makes the suit fit tightly. I would need to ride for a few hours to decide if it would be uncomfortable or not.
Long story short, the back protector is awesome, the chest protector is so-so. I ordered a black race one (got the last one in my size!!!) from the 100-dollar-cheaper place (oncycles.com) and will be returning both the back and chest unit I currently have for now. I am going to try a couple other chest protectors on in person with the suit and back protector to see if they fit better. If not, I will order this one again because the quality is very good.
Here are shots of the suit fit with both on, and the fit of the items under the suit:

So I picked the knox contour online.
The folks at the shipping department put it in a box that was too small and they folded the back armor to get it in there.
I can feel a kink in the honeycomb along each fold (two of them) that goes across the armor horizontally. Think of folding a thick piece of cardboard. I got two of those in this armor.
That can't be good is it?
I emailed planet-knox and the dealer to see what's up, wondering what people here think.
Thanks,
Chris
if they are like any other online store you are going to be stuck paying for shipping due to their own fault. good luck
Wore the back protector for the ride on sunday for a couple hundred miles, most of you probably saw it at the bean.... MAN that thing is comfortable. Awesome product.
The tried to jam it in a smaller box to save shipping and fucked up your product... you need to call them and be very stern... have them email you a prepaid shipping label as well as mail you out a new one right away. I am firm but polite and always get my way with customer service people.... and girls![]()

This is what the planet-knox folks said:
I'm still gonna get a new one, but looks like it is not a big deal.Dear Christopher,
In response to your email received, we would recommend that the contour is not packed in this way, however the contour is designed to ensure maximum flexibility and will move and bend in this way. The kinks that are visible are nothing to worry about and the product is safe to wear. Once worn you should should find that the kinks become less visible.
I hope information is of use to you.
Please feel free to contact us further with any more question you may have.
Kind regards,
