40's my limit; it must be 40 or better when I leave the house in the AM.
So I haven't ridden to work since sometime in November.
Still riding to work daily. Not much salt and sand used yet,,, but when they bring that stuff out I'm done riding, too risky.
Guess I'm one of the few that actually enjoys riding in the white stuff.![]()
Still riding! I made somewhat of a promise to myself, till snow hits the ground or ice is a danger.![]()
Anything lower than 40 and I tend not to go out. I don't have anything that's heated, and to gear up that much for less than at least an hour long ride (or more) is pointless to me. I love riding, but if I am uncomfortable and can't enjoy it I would rather not.
I rolled out yesterday for a 20 mile Christmas Eve ride. 19 Degrees![]()
The older I get the Faster I wuz
I just installed heated grips and they are a dream! I was out in 29* weather for 45 minutes and it got pretty damn cold. I'd draw the line there, below 30 and no dice.

Riding a little but once they start salting I hang it up, usually. I saw what Mr. Ray's V-Strom looked like after a couple of years of year-round commuting:

“It's 2 minutes for any capable adult.”
The only kind of riding I will do when it's below 40 is dirt riding.

You guys who street ride when its less than 50 are nuts.
I got in 100 miles today from North Smithfield around western RI .
42 degrees .
Wearing a Gerbings jacket , Text jacket ( no liner) UnderArmor , leather pants .
Perfectly Warm !!!!!!
I was on the GS with its sheild and heated grips .........
hawk started turning over hard with the cold weather so I've kinda given up on it for a bit
How can you live in New England and think 50 is cold? Are you from the South?
It was beautiful out today @ 30...you do need some sort of heat thing for your hands if you ride over half an hour. Saw a HD type going a different way. I assume he didn't wave because well, heated grips...You think the Pope would give them dispensation to hear a full face helmet in below freezing weather.
Danm Sinus /Chest cold keeping me from riding. Slightly dizzy with meds on 2 wheels not a good thing.

There's a guy where I work who rode his Harley in this morning. He's absolutely nuts.

FYI - Today's cold = Too cold. Unless it is a dirt bike or ATV with screwed tires, on a frozen pond or lake. Then all bets are off.
cool!
seems like there are a lot of die-hard riders out there...I'm a little too skinny to bear much below 50 degrees without a full rain suit on top of my leathers, balaclava, and winter gloves...but rock on boys!
btw, you know how most cali NESRians come into this thread and say "well it's sunny and 70 here"?
ignore them...I'm in SoCal, close to the coast, and while the days vary from low 50's to 80's, it gets into the 30's and 40's overnight. There's frost on my saddle bags if I leave before 8, and unless you like sleeping in 50 degree weather, it gets chilly at night without a heater. So yeah...cali isn't all so perfect, and the areas where it is warm at night, it's friggen boiling during the day for the summer. I can still commute year-round though!
