I'd be calling my lawyer real quick. He was just bullied into letting it go. Scumbag cop.
What is a "cope," and furthermore, what is the point of this video?
Watching the video, I thought it was weird how close he was to the white line and he came to a complete stop, which makes no sense. But for a cop to rear end a bike at like 3 mph, then treat the man the way he did is laughable.
Rider was riding a little weird, if it was me I would have been watching my mirrors a lot more closely being in a city, and accelerated away from a rear ending.
Cop was complete ass and wasn't paying proper attention to not have the ability to brake.
If no damage was done then who cares.
at a minimum he should have given that video to the cops supervisor

My guess is that the rider was focused on the car just ahead of him trying to change into his lane and the cop did not even notice that; otherwise all the spacing between the vehicles seemed even. Bitching someone out because of YOUR fuck up is pretty unprofessional if you ask me.
Bad urban riding on the part of the motorcyclist - total dick move on the part of the cop.
Bottom line, however, is the cop should not have hit the bike. The speeds were low and the cop obviously was either too close and/or not paying attention.
Classic example of, "the best defense is a good offense" on the part of the cop.
waaay too may people are intimidated by alleged authority
town cop runs into me, I call state cops, damage, I file lawsuit, prolly call local media too, keep everything in public eye

A man with a gun is a citizen
A man without a gun is a subject LETS GO BRANDON
cops arent allowed to to do their own accidents.
i wouldve told him to start writing that "shit load of tickets" because i was calling the state police.
"i cant stop that god dam fast"..response? then i guess you were following too close
i was hit by a police car...while i was in a crosswalk....while he ran a red light. that was fun. it was really frustrating that when i got up i was ready to rip someone out the window of their car then i saw the lights on the roof.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

The cop was probably tailgating.
Is this that surprising to anyone??
Keep up with traffic! Like you were so I could rear-end someone??
Wow seems like everyday I lose more and more respect for cops lmao what am I talking about I never had any respect well I guess that's why I was threatened with anger management classes from staties before.. He should have thrown his ass on the ground and started yelling in pain when the impact happened right in front of all those cars.

Wow, what bull shit. Whatever happened to the 3 second following distance rule. I understand people seldom do it whilst driving at 10 mph but that is when you need to keep vigil the most.Man o man he should have taken that cop to court. I do understand why he didn't. Glad the rider was okay and hope the bike was alright too.
+1. No reason to come to a complete stop for no reason, however had the situation been reversed and the bike rearended the cop he would've been screaming that its the biker's responsibility to stay in control of the vehicle.
Although the shit load of tickets thing was over the top I don't think the end result was all that bad. He told him to stop riding like an idiot in traffic and to have a good night.
Classic case of a cop intimidating a victim who doesn't know/understand their rights, trying to avoid owning responsibility for driving like an asshat. As someone already said before, I would have dismounted, told him to go ahead and start writing whatever tickets he'd like while I called 911 for another officer to write up the accident report. The cop was totally in the wrong in all regards here. There is no law saying the motorcycle can't ride to the right, as he didn't cross the white line, he only got close to it. He can brake whenever he deems necessary given the traffic/conditions around him. It is the responsibility of the person following to leave enough to room to react and stop, regardless if there are lights on top of said following vehicle. This shit angers me. Officers should be leading by example, not bending the law to suit their needs. I can't stand how many officers around Boston roll through stop signs, don't signal, speed, tailgait etc when they are not in an emergency (eg lights and sirens). They should be setting the example for the rest of us, not the other way around.
Don't cops have protocol they are supposed to follow. Aren't they supposed to ID themselves and such? They do in my podunk town.
He was "playing offense" from the moment he stepped out of the cruiser. Poor bastard on the bike. He didn't deserve that kind of treatment.
As for the motorcyclist stopping. I had to watch it again because I still don't see what he did wrong. The car was clearly going to change lanes, likely weather the bike was there or not. I'd sure as hell stop too.
its not like he was going 30mph and stopped suddenly he was probably going not more then 10-15mph and with that car trying to come into his lane and the white car ahead of him hitting his brakes i probably would have stopped too.
