Does anyone have any experience importing a bike from Canada?
I have a 1989 Kawi ZX750R that does not meet EPA standards so I couldnt bring it across the border when i moved here.
I just want to use it for track use, but they dont care.
So... I looked into getting it exempted from EPA standards as a race vehicle. Problem is, it isnt fully race-prepped... and they need alot of documentation that it is and has many racing mods. so thats a no go. I am also required to have a racing licence and a race schedule.
EPA told me "for your own good, do not try to bring it across the border without the proper paperwork"
Is there some way that i can fed-ex it down here in several pieces or something???? or do I have to smuggle it across lake ontario in a boat like a frickin rumrunner??? wtf... its not like im trying to pull one over on them, but apparently, they have no way of stopping me from registering it once it is in country.
any suggestions?
Canadian citizens do trackdays in the US all the time. Have a friend load it into a truck and take it down for a "trackday".
thanks for the info. I dont know anyone who comes down for track days from toronto though and If i rent a truck from here to pick it up it might look suspicious with MASS plates.
Professional transport wont trailer it without EPA papers. Id be willing to pay someone to bring it down with them, if someone knows someone who comes down here from Toronto, but I dont know that many ppl make that trip.
Anyone making that trip anytime soon?
