Thanks for all thos who commented on Leather vs. Textile. After 2 long days testing each, I agree that textile is just going to be more versatile, comfortable and easy to deal with.

How the heck did you do that? I wanna make a map with my route on it and I don't know how. Nice trip by the way.
The map is done in MapSource for my Garmin. I then took a picture of it with A screen cap program. Eventually, it will be the set of routes I add into the GPS. Each day is a separate route.
Why don't you add www.amavintagemotorcycledays.com to your trip and hook up with me in the pits and hang out. The roadracing pits I mean.

I'd skip the PCH through LA (it's just light after light after light...) and take Route 74 (Ortega Highway) east, find a path to Route 2 (Angeles Crest Highway) west and then pick up the PCH in Santa Monica. Perhaps that's your plan all along...
I am going to be in Orange County on 7-9 through 7-13, looks like I'll just miss you...
Brand new Itinerary!
I took some suggestions from a few sites and extended mileage out west. Here it is:
7/07 - San Diego, CA to Morro Bay, CA - Ortega, Angeles Crest, PCH
7/08 - Morro Bay, CA to Fort Bragg CA - PCH all day
7/09 - Fort Bragg, CA to Klamath Falls, OR - PCH, Grants Pass, Crater Lake
7/10 - Klamath Falls, OR to Boise, ID - Covering ground east
7/11 - Boise, ID to West Yellowstone, MT - Covering ground east
7/12 - West Yellowstone, MT to Buffalo, WY - Yellowstone loop
7/13 - Buffalo, WY to Chamberlain, SD - Mt. Rushmore
7/14 - Chamberlain, SD to Cedar Rapids, IA - Covering ground east
7/15 - Cedar Rapids, IA to Owensboro, KY - Covering ground southeast
7/16 - Owensboro KY to Asheville, NC - Dragon and a bit of Blue Ridge Parkway
7/17 - Asheville, NC to Waynesboro, VA - Blue Ridge Parkway
7/18 - Waynesboro, VA to East Stroudsburg, PA - Skyline Drive
7/19 - East Stroudsburg, PA to Home
Bump for lack of interest
Anything longer than a day too long?

Glad to opted for Angeles Crest and Ortega vs PCH through OC and LA.
Skip the PCH between Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay (it's pretty dull). Instead, take 9 east to 236 in Boulder Creek, back to 9 east to 35 north to 92 west. It's a fun route through some redwoods and over the ridge of the Santa Cruz mountains.. Boulder Creek is a funky little town to stop in too.
