With the distances you ride, I had to vote asian clone. They certainly hold up very well in the long run.
On the other hand, the Trimph Rocket III is something I wouldn't mind in my stable!
I voted H-D... because one of these days I'm gonna put one in the garage.
I always want to put an Indian in there someday too.

I doubt that it will get anywhere near the usage my SV gets and it will be one more bike to spread my ridingOriginally posted by ZX-12R

I voted the 4th one.
With the miles you ride, you shouldn't even be saying the name Hardley. You'll be in for and engine rebuild every 20k miles![]()

RIP A.B. RIP BEET, I Ride in Leathers because I would rather sweat than Bleed...
After being up in NH during bike week, I have the sound of an HD motor seared into my brain so hard if I didn't hear another one in 15 years that would be fine with me. During my ride north, I saw several HDs in the breakdown lane on 93N that seemed to be 'offline' . I'd like to try riding one, as I have yet to. I guess if the ride was awesome it might be a bike to buy just for the ride...but otherwise it's a top dollar bike that will never be unique or stand out, unless you spend boku bucks, and I didn't exactly see any metric bikes on the side of 93.
I was just in the Trumpet showroom when I had them do an inspection on my SV, the Sprint ST really caught my eye. I am going back for a demo ride when they get one in. This one I've read several articles on, if it' can be ridden half as good as it looks in person, this one is potent:
140hp & 147 ft/lbs, 2.3L motor, each piston is => the size of an 8L Viper piston.

Otherwise I might try out a used BMW 1200C, probably dead reliable and given the miles you ride would pay for itself.

Yamaha Roadstar 1600, excellent Cruising bike, plenty of aftermarket stuff availble. Screaming deals can be found on these as well. I recently added one to the stable, as did my buddy. I got an o2 Silverado, the things loaded, pipes, bags windshield, two tone paint, chrome up the ying yang. Bike only had 2000 miles on it . $8500. My buddy picked up an 03 midnight version new, leftover The things are definite Geezer machines, yet something about them is fun to ride and there comfortable.
F-THAT. Just get another sportbike. Maybe something relaxed, a sport tourer? Anything but a cruiser.![]()
everybody here is lookin at the way i ride my SV, and that is not what I'm gonna use a cruiser for, it would be lucky to see 1000 miles a year , I really don't seemyself on a asian clone,
indan might be considered, I'me certainly going to look at harleys and customs , I like the idea of belt drive
butr might consider a shaft drive too

why dont you get a metric bike that isnt an Asian clone then. Like a Vmax or a Rocket III. They are still both fast as hell with the benefit of being a cruiser.
fast isn't the point of a cruiser

maybe not for you. But fast cruisers are the best of both worlds IMO. I can be comfortable like a cruiser, and can get up in a hurry. I get the feeling you want to relax on your cruiser, but heavy underpowered bikes dont make sense to me
The two reviews that I have seen on the Rocket III have been overwhelmingly positive.
Plus it's sexy as all hell![]()
I voted HD though, because there is such a huge aftermarket for them that you never really need to go to a dealer. Plus the twin cam 88 engine is a huge improvement in reliability and performance over the 80" evo.
No, Donny, these men are nihilists. There's nothing to be afraid of.

I was looking at them over the weekend up at Laconia and I must say they are pretty nice. Even come with a 2 year warrenty. For what your looking for sounds like it might be a good fit. They also seemed like they would handle pretty well with a semi-sport 180 on the rear.

I voted custom. You've got a ton of miles under your belt.
You know exactly waht you like, exactly what you don't.
If it's going to be a low-mileage rider for you, then go custom.
Make it so sweet that you just melt when you look at it and you just can't keep yourself off of it.
Of course, then it's not so low-mileage... but it's still custom, still sweet and still yours.
Go custom. And don't cheap out on anything...
GO TO TONY'S TRACK DAYS!
I'm Bikeless.
If you put it that way, I'd seriously look into riding the 1200c Bimmer...very nice machine, rock solid and a look all its own.Originally posted by RandyO

(edit) - did you say ride 1000 miles a year? I would rent a harley for $150 a day or so, and just get my 1000 miles in over 2-3 days![]()
