Hey everyone,
On my Northern California forum, people probably post 5 times a week on different threads complaining that they saw a squid with no gear, riding in a t shirt, etc. Usually aforementioned squid condemned by the rest of the board, then there are those who freak out and hate on "gear Nazis". I personally am all about the gear but am wondering what the attitude on the east coast is around this subject - it seems like it takes WAY too much time and effort to keep arguing about!
NESR is PRO Gear
NESR is not pro gear... but most of its members are. There's a big difference.
I feel that New England is probably just like anywhere else in the world where people ride motorcycles... People do whatever the hell they want.
I choose to wear ALL the gear ALL the time... except for the times I choose not to.
I also choose not to break ANY laws at ANY time... except for when I feel like breaking the speed limit or lifting the front wheel... just a little.
I also choose to promote the use of protective apparel to EVERYONE I meet... except for when i'm talking to people not worth wasting my time with.

Wait a minute...are you trying to get us to argue about gear? Do you miss your old board?

I hate that line... it's obvious he (and you) both give a fuck cuz neither of you can stop yourselves from throwing in your .02 when it comes to safety.... not necessarily a BAD thing, but it gets old.
he told me at the track he decided to retire that saying... i think you should follow his lead![]()

I could swear this topic is a repost....
I have a lot of friends and family in the healthcare field so I'd prefer people not wear gear as it's bad for business.
Support a nurse, ride in shorts and a tshirt!
...my opinion is worthless...
but I thought that NESR was pro-gear but anti gear nazis...
pro leading by example
anti preaching
but now I wonder if NESR stands for anything...one way or the other

Can't NESR just sit?

Actually, I was talking to Degsy and he tells me that somewhere there is a "What are we about" kind of description. I haven't been able to find it and he said he might refresh it and put it back out there...
...and DOC,

Where want you want is too existential for this forum...though I agree with the concept....

Look what I started
From what I can tell you guys don't tear each other apart. On my norcal board there would be these long-standing feuds that were ruthless and not fun to watch get rehashed.
I was mostly wondering if the gear obsession was an urban rider thing, a Bay Area thing, or what. Not that I'd change my ways but I am slightly afraid of getting laughed at constantly when I move to Boston in a few months because of all my gear. Most of my childhood memories that are coming up are of gearless Harley riders on the highway, but that's not very reliable. I am kind of afraid of the climate in general for riders. I can't say for sure why, maybe because there are so many year round commuters here that drivers and police are very motorcycle friendly. Now I am turning this thread into a therapy session.![]()
I just rode to work today from Belmont to downtown Boston sporting a full face helmet, race gloves, race boots, high-vis yellow jacket & textile overpants... I was going too fast to hear anyone laugh at me![]()

there's the full spectrum: leather one-piece, full face helmet, race gloves and race boots to get a cup of sugar from the neighbor....
all the way to flip flops, sunglasses, shorts and a tank top to go on an all-day twisty ride.
new england isn't all that different from the rest of the world.....

Tear into each other about gear? No.....you are free to do as you wish. ..... Now posing, that will start a good fight each and every time. People have almost religious view on the propriety of posing.
