Yeah, mine is stored in my future in-law's garage in Newton and I live in the South End. It's not that it's such a pain to get to, but more or less a pain to put away and take out frequently if the snow really comes in. I do have a moderately covered area near my apartment that I can stash the bike for some snow, but not if we get dumped on.

Kenn, let me know when you need help getting the bikes out of the garage.

Bike is stored at my parent's house - so hopefully get some work done on it throughout March, and get it parked back at my place end of March/beginning of April ... unless we get dumped on with some cold fluffy white stuff in the next several weeks

I don't like riding in the cold. I do have a heated gerbings under-jacket and heated gloves but it's not enough. When the Explorer arrives it'll have a heated seat and grips. Lots of power outlets to plug pants in etc... 950w generator.

I didn't put it on the tender until January. Unplug, set tire pressure and I'm ready to go anytime I feel like cleaning it after.

It's been cleaned at least 1 once a year, or maybe an average of once every three years. Something like that.

Re: When to de-winterize this year

wow...usually some douche this far into the thread from cali responds to say "what's winterize? it's sunny and 70 today." I am now a cali resident, and I can officially state that douchiness is completely unwarranted and unnecessary. If you live in the warm, good for you; no need to shake it in the east coaster's faces.

but when I lived back in MA, I also never winterized (aside from gas stabilizer and a charger), but I also left it on-site in my parents' garage...and insurance was $150/year, so I wasn't doing much corrosion damage or saved much money to take it off the road for a few months

I put mine away back in September, both tires were too far gone to continue riding through the fall. Around mid-March I'll be transferring her from the shed to patio since my backyard becomes a mud pit during the early spring.

I plan on riding again during April vacation.

Re: When to de-winterize this year

I got out for a ride on January 1 (first ride since getting hit by a car in August), and again on January 28. It's a bit of a pisser because two years ago, I was riding every other weekend at least, sometimes every weekend, and pretty long rides at that -- and we had more snow that winter. The difference is we got a lot of snow at a time and then had long stretches when we got none; this winter we seem to keep getting a dusting on Thursday or Friday night that ensures the roads are salt-encrusted over the weekend with large wet patches that may or may not be icy. The possibility of ice makes me very cautious (in combination with my still-healing leg), and I don't really want to subject the bikes to the amount of salt they've been putting down (driving into Burlington the other day, there was actually a smoky haze hanging over a bridge caused by all the cars kicking up salt dust -- it was disgusting).

So I'll get out when I can -- the bikes are in the barn ready to go -- and I have a gut feeling this winter is going to keep going pretty much as is, so hopefully by early March it'll be tapering off. I'll be out riding as soon as the roads are dry and the salt's diminished. Can't wait...

It's still nice in Portsmouth. I'm riding to work about half the time or a little more. The weekend was beautiful. Today is nice. I may not end up winterizing this year at all.

I've been cautious with the Duc', never took collision off her and have been getting out. I got out yesterday for quite a while. Had a blast, back roads are salty gravely badness. I've had the DRZ out every few days, even played in the snow and on icy trails. I miss my beaches of NC and all year riding, but this winter here in Vermont, so far, is the winter that WASN'T.
I can't imagine all the poor snowmobiler's, they have to be crying!

Got me a little ride in today. Didn't even put all the plastics back together, just couldn't help myself.

Bike did not really want to start. But man it was fun.

Fridays weather had me come home from school, and work on her till 2 in the morning in order to get a ride in Saturday... definitely worth it. I brought it back up to school (Umass Lowell if anyone wants to ride) so I'm really hoping for some good weather starting now.

Never put mine away and have been riding. Yesterday, I decided that the car would live outside the garage and gave my bike the entire garage to itself to make it easier to git up and go. If winter decides to visit, I will bet it will be short lived.

Re: When to de-winterize this year

Got out for a 120 mile ride yesterday. Long-range forecast is looking pretty good, and that brings us up to the end of February. I didn't even bother putting fuel stabilizer back in my bike after filling the tank yesterday.
