2003 R1 (in silver) is one of the most pleasing to the eye bikes I have ever seen.

I agree. The R-1 is very smooth. Although I don't care for the Flames on the side of this years limited edition.

Just thought we'd clear that one up while we're at it...
Well yes, I agree...somewhat. However, he will only be buying one bike, not 3 bikes so what difference does it make that the wheels or other parts fit other models/years?

What I am talking about is things like handlebars, brake levers, bearings, electronics, those pesky frame breakages that Suzukis a prone to etc. For example, the fork seals for a Gixxer are double the price of the ones for a Honda FOR THE SAME SHOWA FORK!!!!!

Anyhoo, just to contradict myself here, I just paid $48 for 4 sparkplugs for the F4i. That was with my 25% discount from list price!!!!

Wanna see what a $16 spark plug looks like. Don't blow on it or it will break.

styling = R1 definitely . . . . even my friend chose the R1 when he looked at the Zx-12 , CBR and some other bikes in the magazine and he knows nothing about bikes.

For my tastes, the R1 looks like an angry rubiks cube . Too many hard edges. I guess that's just me though.

I like the 954 styling better also. It has a GP bike look especially with that gorgeous swingarm and tail section. Without having ridden it, I would be worried about all the complaints about twitchiness. But that can be worked out to some degree so.......

The very simple point I was trying to make is that there is a TON of parts out there for the Gixxer lines that are interchangeable, making parts CHEAPER and EASIER to come by. Having owned both Hondas and Suzukis, I can say from experience that parts for the bike's I'VE owned (Honda & 'Zook) were relatively priced. I don't recall ever hearing you mention owning a Suzuki, so I'm not sure where you came up with your fork seal example. But I'd venture a guess that someone wasn't being all that honest with you. I've NEVER experienced gouging like that with any 'Zook I've owned...

The best plugs I ever ran in my boat had NO resistor. I couldn't believe what a difference they made....

Ok, point taken. But you try to go out and find gixxer wheels for less than about $300 EACH used. You can buy a set of Honda wheels used for about $450 at the most. Ask gary how hard it is to find gixxer wheels. I found out the prices on Fork seals when I went to buy some for you when we were doing the forks. Mark also tells me that Suzuki parts for his quads are much more expensive than the Honda ones and take longer to come in usually. Again, I could be totally wrong, but I just got the impression that the Suzi parts were more expansive on the whole.

BTW, I have owned a Suzuki.

one of the funniest things I ever saw: seems that in Germany, you can't get a bike license for a full-size bike until you're 18. so you'd see "mofa (moped) gangs"... teenagers in full leathers, lookin' as badass as they could muster... swaggering and posing in the pubs-- then striding outside to climb on their Puchs and Vespas.

    "bri-i-i-I-I-ING! digga-digga- BRI-I-ING...re-e-e-e-e-EEEE (pop, kapow), r-e-e-e-E-E-EEE..."

That pic was taken in 1982 I believe. I was 15. All the bikes were 50cc "mopeds). Mine was unrestricted (pre-1977) and was the fastest (about 65mph). The two dirtbike type bikes were Suzuki 50's bored out to 70. ZERO compression after the rebore, they had to be hitting 10,000rpm to even pull away.
