So I was lucky enough to find time and a bike available to rent and even more fortunate to stumble across roads just like the "Tail of the Dragon" Only more mileage of twisties!!! I logged on 285 km in just a 24 hour time frame on a Yamaha XT660R. Nice ride, would be nice to see these here!
Rented the bike and saddled up after delivery @ 2PM, then headed up the coast slowly working my way west to Lagos then continued on a slow pace touring and checking out the scenery and looking for hidden roads to the ocean front along the way East towards Portimao, then finally around 8:30 finding my way back to my hotel in Alvore.
Day two I got up early grabbed a quick breakfast in the hotel then was off to find some mountain roads a few people suggested I check out on the bike. So off to the Seira DeMonchique which was definately well worth seaking out!!! WOW! Increadible road. I was on a dual sport Yamaha XT660R with knobbies and it was lightly raining in the mountains so I had to take it easy. If it was dry and I had my Duke this area would have been like ripping on a race track! Smooth roads nice twisties ranging from long sweepers to tight hairpins. Only major issue I found with the raod was the logging trucks running up and down taking up a good portion of the road as well as kicking up dirt into the road. Other than that I had a blast and was able to take a lot of pictures. there will be more pictures of the rest of my trip sight seeing off the bike when I find the time. There is about 1200 pictures to go though and upload onto photobucket... Lots of work to do...
Here is the Bike portion of my trip, with stil a few pics to up load still.

I opened this post expecting to read that you found a road in portugal that had a LEO on radar post at every turn![]()
I get offended by people who cry they've been offended
Portugal definitely has some serious mountains, and serious roads thru said mountains. Where did you go Mike? Did you make it up to Porto or were you in the central / south area? I wished I had a bike when I was there... much like all my non-bike travels to Europe.
I have rented two while in Europe, both times led to sheer awesomeness.
I was in the Seira De Monchique mountains in those pictrues. I was staying at a very nice resort in Alvore for 4 days which in in Algarve and is in the south western portion of Portugal. Very nice ocean side location. I also stayed in a night in Lisbon and 4 days in A City near Cascais which I cannot recall it's name?
I was on a tour and we did a large region in the south western section of Portugal. Once you see one walled city and one section of Lisbon you are going to see many identical cities like it, spend the remainder of the time on the ocean! Thats was beautiful. Wish I had more time on the ocean.

Yeah, Lisbon is beautiful though... although the economy started going south many years ago, when I went there were many projects to clean up the city. White looks like shit w/ graffiti all over it!
Gorgeous area though, I went to Lisbon and headed north to Porto and got redonkulously tanked at the Port wineries and cellars.... fun times.
Can't understand the lingo for shit though, I thought it'd be more similar to spanish... boy was i wrong.
Nice!!!

I plan on downloading more traveling scenic pictures tonight of my trip.
For now I have been searching for videos of the road, but have only found this squid, but it can give you an idea of the road in pieces. He doesn't have an onboard set up yet.
