First time I ever used a torque wrench, I snapped the head off the bolt. I have never used a torque wrench since, and have never had any problems.

that's because Neons arent designed to be worked on. when they break (usually around 1,000 miles), you throw them out & buy something that isnt a piece of shit

Believe me, I double checked. It doesn't help that the torque wrench in question was an Autozone special.

Re: In Defense of Manny's torque wrench obsession

I had a cheapo click type. I was using it on a sparkplug. I was set for 14 ftl bs. I was turning and it did not click. I stop because I had done it a 100 or a 1000 times before. Gave the cheapo away and bought a 3/8 electronic digital Craftsman for $200. Not perfect because some times you cannot hear the beep while at the track but if you use it enough you will know when to stop. I have a very good quality 1/4 drive and 3/8 drive but my 1/2 drive is still a cheapo. Click types are not bad in themselves. Just a 19 dollar is bad.

Torque wrenches are good. They're even better if you know how to correctly use them. I have definitely set the wrong torque setting a few times myself.
I wanna check out Manny's new tool......... Hmmm... I don't think that sounds quite right.
