suzuki is cutting production by a huge amount this year on 09 gsxr600s 750s and espically 1000s.. out of 4 dealerships in our group were only being alotted 20 gsxr1000s.. And this is the same for every dealer around.

Are motorcycle sales strong enough to support more production?
At over 10000 for a 600 I think they would be better off offering incentives for people to buy their bikes. Limiting production will cut costs for them but in such a poor economic situation that we are in now cutting people breaks to buy their stuff would bring in more money.
Yes, but the yen has completely TANKED against the dollar, the Japanese OEMS are in big trouble right now, so drastic measures aren't entirely unexpected. Production cuts are likely a result of plant closures and shortening production hours and such.... similarly to what the big 3 have been doing here for a while now.
The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind
Buy mine and take the 7000 to put on MODS

Original dealer orders were canceled and production cut by about 50%. I fought with my rep. and got about 20% of it reinstated. But that means I'm still only getting 70% or my original order.
However....
I've still got plenty of left over 08 GSX-R600s. If you're at all thinking about buying one... This is the way to go. The price on the '09s is $1000 higher... for the same bike with slightly different graphics.

How is the Suzuki Motorcycles division doing financially?

Here's a question. Am I the only one reading this who was NOT planning on purchasing a new bike this season??? I feel for Suzuki, but last time I checked my paycheck reflects no input from them, so good luck with that.
In all honesty I never buy new anyway, my wife would have my ass. Its already been said but why not wait a year and get a bike already modded for less money.
I have leftover brand new '07 and '08 GSXR's too if ppl are looking![]()
Did you see where anyone said, "Help rescue Suzuki's down financial situation."? No... Because no one typed that.
We are trying to be helpful to the members here.
If you want a '09 GSX-R1000 put a deposit on one now or you probably won't get one. I'm getting 12 and three of them are already on deposit. I expect that a few more deposits will be taken before spring actually arrives.
If you're looking for a 600 or 750, shop for a leftover. Both bikes had a retail increase of over $1000 for '09. And the bike has not changed one bit from the '08s I have in stock right now.
FYI... Honda has already followed Suzuki into the price increases. Kawi and Yamaha will probably follow suit very soon.

I don't think it's such a bad thing really. Every time I go to a dealer they seem to have TONS of super sports on the floor, and very few of any other type.
hurray, strikethrough!
...adventure timeadventure time...adventure time...adventure time
the dealer I go to is the largest in RI, and they are only getting 12 of the new R1's.

America doesn't need Gixxah 1-millions.
Does this mean that all OEM suzuki parts are going up in price as well ??

Legend in my own mind
Used bikes are tanked much less discretionary dollars and confidence in future.
I suspect some of the price holdings were China sub-components or possibly entire assembly not Japan.
New BMW 650 entire motor made in China
