A mere observation
After a camp and ride in Maine we had gone riding on very dry dirt roads in a fog of micro dust which penetrated everything
So everything needed cleaning including the helmet at Shoei rf1200
Well after the shampoo the padding, and washing the shell, a nice dry and a spritz of fabreeze
When I put it on it now feels a little tight like when new, this the third time I have noticed this.
I have heard others say they thought it was time for a new hat as this one was feeling loose
I am sure the human spooge that collects in the foam must glue some of the padding together so it effectively shrinks
The calculus of hate
It is not that I should win it is that you should lose
It is not that I succeed it is that you fail
It is not that I should live it is that you should die
Maybe I should have given that a shot before divorcing my ex.
so she could expand?!![]()

It's a little tight from the moisture you added expanding the liner in your helmet, if I understand what you're saying correctly.

Or from the lining being removed and allowed to expand during the cleaning / drying process. It will mold back pretty quickly, but even non-memory foam has "memory" qualities to it, particularly when deformed (while the helmet is on) for hours and days on end...
