    Double Yellow

Situation: You're on your bike stuck behind a slow moving truck/car, you get to a passing zone but there's oncoming traffic. You come to a wide open stretch that's a double yellow, and there is no traffic in the other lane.

To pass or not to pass, that is the question.

Well I think that would go under the safe part, but I guess that's subjective.

Also depends on what Im doing. If Im out for a spirited ride and they're crawling I probably will, if Im commuting or just heading someone Id probably just deal with them.

In VT the double-yellow lines are "advisory" or a suggestion only...

So...yes I'd pass if it were safe...but the law has nothing to do with it!

    Re: Double Yellow

Gee, I was passing doubles yesterday. I do it, if I feel safe doing so. If there is *any* doubt in my mind that I might not make it, I won't. If I'm riding with some buddies and they all pass doubles, but when come my turn I don't feel safe doing so, I won't...I'll just catch up with them when I get the chance.

There can be no Bemused option here, it doesn't apply. You either do it, or you don't.

Also I think I remember reading something about people not actually knowing what bemused meant in regards to NESR. Didn't want to be a dumb newb and get it wrong.

I bemuse from this vote. (as opposed to abstaining from it)

    Therefore, I vote bemused.

    Re: Double Yellow

if a car is holding me up on a particularly twisty or senic road than yes, i'll pass as soon as i safely can. double yellow or not. part of the reson i ride is because i can do things like that whenever i see fit.
