So I smoked the rod bearing in my 2011 848 race bike at the last race. Trying to decide what to do with it. I had planed on selling it at the end of the season to fund a new build for next year, but now I'm not sure what to do.
- Rebuild the engine over the winter, run it again next year
- Buy a used stock engine and finish the year in it
- Part it out to get back what I can. This thing has every trick part on it.
Opinions?

4. Buy my well cared for 848 =)
Dave,
If your just going to sell it anyway, I would not throw any more money at it and cut your loses.. the only draw back is parting takes time and work, so be patient.. Did it do any damage to the heads, pistons so on?
Good luck

Wow! That's a lot of material. I would buy a new motor. A quick search found two under 1,700
But are they Evo engines or first gen 848's?

Eeck looks like one of my Buell engines that went bad...
Found mostly first gen.
That's what I figured. I have a few things in the works but haven't committed to anything yet.

Buy Dustin's 848 racebike with good motor and ecu, that the front end is smashed, then he will buy my 2011 848evo racebike.

I dont believe he does. I think its a non evo, which is why i mentioned motor and ecu....there really isnt much difference. Send him a pm...
There are a few differences. Heads, pistons, cams, intake ports, etc... Can make it work, but would need to port the intake to match up with the larger Evo throttle bodies. I've talked with Mark Sutton about doing a build with a non-Evo engine. Will be easier to just stick with an Evo engine.
