The time "my friend" evaded a ticket wearing only a swimsuit, no helmet.
The time there was a police roadblock at the state line with reports of bikes that coincidentally exactly matched ours, but the 4 counties that reported this information didn't want to make the trek to identify said perpetrators.
and I must still be in my glory days because more recently "my friend" unknowingly passed a cop over the double yellow in a dark tunnel and "must not have noticed the lights".
I read these threads and feel like I missed out, wish I had gone on some of these rides as they sound like a HOOT, then I remember:
My rule for group rides: "no more than four".
I hauled my ass up from RI for one of these nights, good time, but gawd i hate the slab
Too many to list. Or, too many that I wouldn't want to publicly announce.
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
My recollection was that there was a group who shared my belief that we all needed to get home in one piece, but had a ton more skill than me and another group with equal or lesser skill, but no apparent recognition of the need to be able to get to work on Monday.
In that regard it reminded me of the day I was waiting in the lobby of a local sports complex as I was coaching an indoor soccer team of 9-year-olds and spotted the complex's posted list of LIFETIME BANS for men's Street hockey...
There are always assholes...
Now I usually ride alone, limiting it to one asshole.

That was a good one.
That trooper was pissed, lots of threats of arrest and impound and revokation of license.
He ended up writing me for 85 in a 65 which I plead not guilty to , went to court and got it nolled for a 50 dollar court fee .
In my defense he never would have caught me, except I had slowed down to see what had happened to the group.
The glory days aren't over for me yet , my plus one loves that we have the Dragonbike which lofts the front at 150 in 4th .
She is extremly brave and trusting of me .
Why ? I hve no idea.

Y'all are wild.
Only thing I have, and isn't really any "glory" so much as "young and poor", my tl1000 was a big of a cob job when I first started riding it. I had it running fairly well, but the battery was dead before a ride with a few friends.. so I fired it up with a jump pack and went on my way. Little did I know it was actually clapped. Get where we're going and shut it down then it won't start again. I finally get a jump and we're heading through the ghetto around 11pm. I pulled the clutch in taking a turn and it just flat out died. They didn't notice and kept going. Ended up getting it pop started on a bridge into the ghetto and made it to my girlfriend's lol.
The only other thing I've got.. I was a waiter at the macaroni grill when I lived in Nashville and had a guy and his wife there while I was closing. They were the last table so I was able to take really good care of them. We ended up talking bikes for a while and he gave me his card. Guy had a turbo kawi from the 80s with a bigger turbo than came on it lol. I met him for a ride a few weeks later and that guy was nuts. Doing deep into triple digits with him on arrow straight country roads was a riot. Cool guy.
there was 5 or 6 in the group, while the group stopped for gas, I made a pit stop at my house to get a different pair of gloves and was waiting as the group came by, at the next intersection, thy slowed to let me catch up a bit and see which way they were turning, I blasted rigt up to 110-115 (warp 3.8) on my SV650, everybody else had litre bikes and were ½mile + ahead of me, only god knows how fast they were going (warp 5+). I noticed a white car make the same turn and follow, in my mirror. at the next intersection 3 miles down the road, we pulled over in a parking lot, and were taking our helmets off, when the white car, (with blue lights in grill) pulls in behind and steps out, and proceeds to lecture us
"Alright boys, I know you're dressed for it, but this ain't a race track, I caught you guys doing 85 in a 30, when you went out of my range, and I know you were doing a hell of a lot faster than that." Then points his finger at me, the slowest one of the bunch and says "YOU, twice in one week, you got to slow down" then told the group, he wanted to see me lead

Was anyone else on the big ride where we were riding along behind a guy in an SUV and when he put his right blinker on to pull into his driveway we started to pass him on the left, so he swerved at us, almost ran a couple of us off the road, then he pulled over, jumped out, stood in the middle of the road and tried swinging punches at us as we rode past him? I think he actually connected with one of us.... Big Joel, maybe?
At that point we all said "fuck this guy" so we all pulled over, started yelling at him so he ran back behind his house... and just before he reemerged with a beer in his hand his neighbor came out saying 'Yeah, uh, I wouldn't fuck with that guy, he's fucking insane'.
Good times![]()

One of the first times I hung out with TLRMan at his house he was telling me about his drag racing days... he goes inside, comes back out with a small cup with Nitro in it... he's standin there telling me about it with a lit cigarette in his mouth, then drops the cig right in the cup.
"sst"... Cig goes out.

Yup, he punched my friend Rich in the head. Mike Resse was there as well as a few others.
Some time either before or after that, the memories are fuzzy as to dates, I was on another group ride where most of the group passed a car but myself and two or three others did not pass the car. The car then slowed to pull into a driveway and we stopped behind it. Crazy man comes running across the front lawn and full on tackles one of the other guys off his bike. Guy and bike laying on the ground, crazy man goes back in his house. Guy picks up his bike and we ride off to find the rest of the group. Pull into the center of town and there is Buford T. Justice with the rest of the group pulled over. We stop to wait for them to get the riot act read to them and up rolls crazy man in his car screaming and yelling making a scene. Cops tell him to go home. Pretty sure it was the same crazy guy from Peter's story. Guess the group got pulled over because they went screaming by the officer as he was coming down his driveway. Estimated the group at 70-80mph. Talked to one of my buddies that was out in front on his GSXR1100 turbo (horsepower shootout at Daytona bike) and said how fast were you going. His reply, no idea how fast everyone else was going but I was well over 100 when we went by that driveway. Everyone wound up with stern warnings and we went on our way.
