That time we were riding in western CT and it was 32° and we were in our carhartt onesies. We had just ate breakfast and headed out on 84 west with timmyduck on his busa leading. I don't remember how fast we were going but Joe pulled over into the slow lane in front of me. I follow suit not looking in my mirrors as I was in full tuck on a zrx. Cop blows by us and chases timmy down. We bail off the next exit and head to the gas station to regroup and figure out a plan when 3 cruisers pull into the gas station. Hilarious times.
Im sure you guys have some good ones...

I think I remember Kurtz passing like 3 cars including a state trooper, over the double yellow in a construction zone on the way up to VT one year.
My first group ride to the vanilla bean cafe...lead by the others Sean LOL
The big big long long ride where tickets were assigned to the front riders
The no frills track day when I was sketched out that Iglu went down within a few laps on cold tires on an EX500

Riding with a group... we get "split up" for, uhhhhh... "reasons".
I call Oxx to see where they're at and find out what's going on... Oxx picks up.
O: "Hey baby"
Me: "uhhhh, hey....... studmuffin..."
O: "Yeah I'm still out riding with the guys, should be home later."
Cop in the background: "IS THAT ONE OF YOUR BUDDIES?! TELL THEM TO GET THEIR ASSES BACK UP HERE OR I'LL - "
O: "NO DUDE, IT'S MY FUCKING GIRLFRIEND!!!!!!!!"
Me: "Sooooo uhhhh...... we should bounce?"
O: "Yeah, that sounds great, I'll be home in time for dinner"
Me: "Alrighty then... love you, snookums!"

Once upon a time I heard this story about a Subaru with some friends we may know. If I remember correct there was some drinking involved.
Our friends Left the bar and some hooligan stuff took place.
As they approached a 4 lane road and a light a car pulled next to them(I think a mustang).
They revved up, he revved up, light turned green and it was on.
The 4 lane road started closing down to the 1 lane with the use of cones.
They didn’t know why so a game of chicken took place. Our friends won - the mustnang slowed down and our boys got into the lane leading. As they celebrated they noticed several cruisers and an officer with a flash light signaling them down. Yup you guessed it right.it was a checkpoint, They were checking for drunk drivers. Our friends made an executive decision to double down. Drop a great and disappear style...
The previous statement may be based on fictional stories.
So fucking cold that day.
sumtty were you there for the day the dildo got zip tied to my helmet?
Dawn patrol ride with a group (including a few on here). Met up in Windsor CT area, up through the Berkshires, down rt. 7, 8, etc. Somewhere in Washington/Becket the group got split up. I said, OK, I'll take a quick rip back to see if they're within a couple miles, since that stretch is a blast anyway.
Went by a dirt road off the side, thought something grey caught the corner of my eye while tipping into a 30 corner at 75 or so. Thought naw couldn't have been. Kept railing for a few more miles until coming into Hinsdale. Long straight stretch into town. Saw a couple strobing headlights way behind. Probably could have caught the right on 143 and been gone, but have never been one to do that.
Pulled over, had helmet off by the time the lady cop got there. She said, "do you know how fast you were going, I've been chasing you for four miles". No ma'am, I didn't look at the speedo. She was in a nice new charger cruiser at the time, and wanted to tell her apparently she needs some driver training, but held back. Anyway, that could have been way worse (about $300).
So a few weeks later, we're on another ride with most of us two up, I've got my girlfriend (wife now) with me. Joe sees me, "hey, you're the guy that got that big ticket last time we were out right?!". Well I hadn't told the other half about that one yet..... thanks Joe.
Sorry to be a bummer, but...
The one and only large group ride I ever went on - organized on this forum (I believe by RayRay) - ended when one dude in the "fast" group slid through a guard rail on 116. Last I heard of him, he was paralyzed from the waist down.
My experience is that big sport group rides are chaotic shit shows; too much rubber-banding, too many people riding above their abilities or showing off, going way too fast through populated areas, etc.
I guess I'm fortunate I survived through those years. I have much more fun on my adventure bike and dual sport, anyways.

This was before he screwed enough people that he was run off. He was still in everyone's good graces at the time. Not to say he wasn't a shithead before, of course.
I went on another smaller "v-twin only" group ride a few years later, also organized here. That was a bit better, although still too many shenanigans (riding 75mph through residential Mass). Another member that still posts here was on that ride as well and left early, saying he couldn't afford to lose his license. I don't mind getting on it here and there, but there is a time and a place and my experiences with group rides is that most people abuse that.

There's been a few "memorable encounters" over the years but one of my favorites was around 12ish years ago.
A large group of us, something like 30, did a Mohawk run and were looping up through VT. We were running 100 on 100 type of thing. Coming into town we made a turn only to find a cruiser parked sideways across the road. Had all our gear off as the cop started working through the group grabbing license and reg. I'm mentally freaking out because this can't be good and it was the first time I came close to ending up in the back of a cruiser. Eventually I realize they have no idea who did what and where so nothing will stick and relax some.
About 5 minutes later another cruiser slides to a stop behind us and Sherriff Buford T Justice pops out looking like he's gonna have an aneurysm any second. He starts screaming and asking us how fast we were going. We just look at each other and shrug, 65? He loses it and says oh hell no, you were going way faster then that. How fast were you going back by that lake? We look at each other and shrug, what lake, there was a lake? I think we took 10 years off that dudes life right then and there.
It turns out he was coming down a side road and we blasted by. He chased us for miles and we had no idea he was even there. We weren't running and never saw blues. We just were already booting and he didn't stand a chance in a Chevy Impala. We were gone before he even hit the main road.
The cop who stopped us was young and rode. He had a convo with the older dude and they decided they couldn't overwhelm dispatch by calling us all in one by one. They gave us a lecture about not wanting to read about us in the papers and if anyone had an expired license etc.... the ticket would be in the mail. They cut us loose and we had a slightly slower ride home.

Born ride one year. We were up in Dalton MA. We just came through town and got broken up by a red light. Typical group fashion, no one up front stopped or noticed. I pulled out on a long stretch and passed like 4 cars over the double yellow. Turns out the dark green pickup coming up to me in the oncoming lane was a DEEP officer. He pulled me over. He estimated my speed at 100. Dude was so mad he was spitting and furious. Veins coming out of his forehead super trooper style. He lectured me about bike accidents up his way and all that. Took my license and reg, ran everything. I didn't get a ticket because he didn't carry a ticket book.
I also seem to remember coming home for times Square one night. We hit the merit parkway at like 2am and run the bikes almost wide open from white plains to at least Wallingford. At one point I was doing 128 and Joe and Vinny were pulling away from me.
Even on the best organized group rides, with a lot of terrific people, I still remember being passed on the inside of a right turn, forcing me over the centerline.
Why?
There are always assholes.
The sweep saw it and spoke to him at he next stop. He took off in a huff and was never seen again.
I feel honored that i am a part of a ton of these.. oh the memories. and fuckery we have done
I think I only went on one group ride, down in the Dover/Sherborn area. Man was it amazing, I wanna say like 10 bikes, and the rollers and sweepers out there are SO good, but the speed limit was like 25 and 35.....
Buncha losers, us cool kids had were on Newbury St.

Snobbery. Hahaaa. Well, I remember you overcooking corners on the regular with SRNE. One in Leverett center pops to mind.
I somehow missed most of the rides that involved running and tickets. Though I do remember a ride with Brad and Co. on 23 in NH where we got called in by a minivan. Cop yelled at us for 10 minutes and let us skate.
The big VT rides out of Camp Meade were epic. That Lawyer dude, Chuck, was always causing a dust up. He got really hurt dirt riding into a tree if I recall?
The Big Shel rides were always epic. Minus the one where the wrong Bill was invited by accident. Watching someone throw the bike away, hit a tree and need a helicopter kinda fucked that one up![]()

hot into corners, maybe a couple times, remind me where this Leverett center place is. Most of the time, you wouldn't know one way or the other, cause I was always riding sweep after like the 2nd ride I went on, I do recall your wife filling up with diesel
I never stayed at Camp Meade, once, I hooked up for a ride, I was visiting my dad in nearby Hinesburg, and I split off halfway thru, 25 riders in a group ride, isn't my thing, although it is an impressive sight, watching from sweep position, a snake of 25 riders in front of you
