Here's the scoop. I did a lot of work (painting) round the house and afta I got finished bout 4:30PM or so I hadda go to the store.
I haven't been wearing my earplugs lately (In the past I always wore them) but I said.........I'm gonna put em in. I was so freakin tired from painting I couldn't understand how my concentration was so exacting. I took a road I usually take back from Mason NH and found myself ripping at 60mph on a 25-30 MPH rated road.
I think having my ear plugs in makes me more focused and more comfortable on my ride.

Didn't notice that Kham had posted something about the same topic.
If ya have some input about the same feel free ta post.
i haven't wore my plug in over a year, and have noticed that I am a bit less confident without... I like being able to hear better when wearing them(sirens, cars, my singing)

I wouldn't ride more than one mile without ear plugs. I consider them a must for riding.

I have to agree with you guys. With earplugs, I can concentrate more on my riding than trying to mentally block out the wind and exhaust noise. I also feel less fatigued after a ride when I'm wearing them. The only pain is trying to communicate with other riders if you are both wearing earplugs.

I wear earplugs if i'm goin for a joyride & wanna enjoy it... I have some foamies that i don't really like. They fit ok, but i hate having to roll em up & stand there for a minute waiting for them to expandi wanna get some that i can just shove in my head & go, as well as re-use em an indefinite number of times (washable)

I went to a gun show last year, and a guy was there, showing earplugs custom made for you. He was using some kind of molding to fabric them so they fit you perfectly.
Page once told me to try this. On the highway specially, it is awsome. Cut the wind out. It's more peacefull and quiet to ride with them. Which make me think, I havent' wear those this year, I need to buy some.![]()

I use Doc's Proplugs for the bike and for when I'm on stage. They cut alot of white noise, not as much as foamy's ( and no waiting for expansion,OreoGaborio) , but you can hear alot more of the important stuff. I use the "vented" music type. The unvented is like siliconing your ears shut. Alot of guys that have paid good money for custom plugs, actually prefer these! Another nice part is they're clear, so when you have 'em in, no one can see them without looking in your ear. Nice for loud clubs.

"fuckit!"
I find that wearing earplugs adds to your confidence because you have to focus on less of the extraneous noise and can concentrate more on riding... That said, I haven't worn my plugs for more than a year because I like listening to my iPod on the road
Cheers,
Chris
But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.
i tend to agree, if i ride to work about five miles i dont wear them but if i go riding with the crew or what not i always wear them, more focus and i can hear more what the engine is doing opposed to just hearing wind turbulence over the helmetOriginally posted by Degsy

I wore earplugs for the first time today during my commute. I was really surprised at the difference it made - although because I was getting used to the change in what I could hear I'd say I wasn't anymore focused. Just something to get used to though...it was nice not having so much damn windnoise on the highway though...
They're a requirement for me. One thing that I was suprised at after I started wearing them, besides the fact that I could now actually hear things for the rest of the day, is after 100+ mile rides, I wasn't as fatigued. I'm less tired after a ride with ear plugs than without.
