had the bike dyno'd at motorcycle night tonight, seems smooth enough power and 110mph in 4th gear at 93.5hp isn't too shabby for a "sport touring" 600cc
2004 yzf 600r

nice, its got 6 gears though right? i had my 97 yzf 600r up to 145.....![]()
yep. it in fact does have 6 gears but when they dyno they just use 4th gear. not sure what top speed on my bike and i will probably never know
interesting, is it just due to the fact that the dyno cant handle it? or for safety reasons?
I would assume that they do a dyno run in four gear so that it will give the computer an average torque reading, through the designated rpm range.Originally posted by neuthunder

If they did it in 6th, then the bike would want to stall and or sputter around the 1500 rpm mark.
Same thing when they do cars they do them in 3rd.
Say if the bike is in 3rd then the HP and TQ will drop off in the higher rmp and will not give a true reading, same thing with 5th or 6th, it will not pull as hard in the lower rpm range. So 4th is the best gear to get the entire power curve of the bike.

You are suppose to dyno in the gear with ratio closes to 1:1... The dyno just measures mass x acceleration and then does a few other calculations to get Power... so, you don't want gears to be helping or hurting you as you spin the drums...
Thats a super vague explanation, but you get the idea.
Your bike tops out at around 160 on the speedo. But then again that was after the sprocket change.![]()
With my gearing, I'm pretty much maxed out in 6th at about 130-135 indicated on the speedo, so probably more like 120-125.
Of course, done on a closed course with professional drivers.
I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
did you go that fast on my bike? not mad if you did just want to know so i know if it can do it. Warranties are for a reasonOriginally posted by rmbbikes

also my speedo is dead on checked with my GPS. (dead on is within 2-3 MPH) at 80mph
Don't count on your bike topping out at 160...Originally posted by reiobard
