Just got back from 7 days in NS. Trailered to Saint John, NB, because we didn't have an extra week to get up there via back roads, and F 11hrs on the highway, on knobby tires. Saw some amazing view, and great roads. 1500 miles on the bikes, of the 4500 miles of coastline. Definitely a great place to see. Tented 6 nights. Temps were 80 during the day and down to 50 at night with no humidity. Camp grounds were all clean, some right on the ocean, for $35cad for two people. No bike issues on our side, though we met a couple harleys in a uhaul, headed back to the main land to weld exhaust pipes and replace starters. Roads were generally great shape, but glad we had these bikes for the few patched ones, plus some cool offroad shortcuts we took.

I’m gonna try and put a trip like this in my calendar soon. I’ll probably try and grab the ferry out of Portland or bar harbor, if’n it hasn’t become ridiculously cost prohibitive.
Pics look amazing.

Did you ride the Cabot Trail?
As of July 15th, the Ferry wasn't running yet this year due to terminal updates being delayed, after they moved the US location to Bar harbor. We took the Digby ferry back to saint Johns, where our truck was parked. 80usd with bike. We saw the NB side of the bay, and were running out of time, so we skipped some of the NS side.
We put the least amount of effort into planning this one, and it went really smooth. Even changed our plan of riding counter clockwise, after the first day of riding, to get to Cape Breton/Cabot trail, as soon as possible. No issues with riding til noon/1, looking on a map at lunch for a camp site 2-3hrs away, and just arriving. No reservations needed, even on the second week of July.
We ended up doing the northern half of the Cabot trail back and forth a few times as it was truly a spectacular piece of road. Basically, from Ingonish to Chetticamp. Stopping for short hikes along that route was a major highlight. Do not miss the skyline trail and the hike out behind the Celtic lodge. Holy hell are those beautiful.
A little write up and pics of our trip here: Cape Breton (Van supported)

I’m not trying to plan my future excursion beyond knowing vaguely where I’m headed and the date I’m gonna leave.

Epic. Well done. Glad all went so well for you.
I miss doing trips like this. (And I've only done a couple.)
We were probably there at the same time. My buddies and I rode from MA to Halifax and back on 80's Hondas (July 11-15). I was really surprised how good the riding in NB and NS was. We did a lot of camping, a lot of dirt roads, and had a ton of fun. Avoided highways pretty much the entire time, with the exception of the last day when we had to do a mad dash home.
