    Recommend me a battery..

Apparently, putting only 400 miles on your bike all season is a recipe for a dead battery. I've pop-started my '07 R1 the last three times I've ridden it, and today it just refused to hold a charge. (Gotta love basically living on the road...)

What's the "better" battery to get these days?

And what's it like to actually have time to ride?

    Yuasa. Seriously.

    I wouldn't buy anything else.

And invest in a battery tender. When you aren't riding it, make sure it is plugged in.

Don't laugh, but Walmart has good batteries cheap. My $45 battery has been maintained on the battery tender and is going strong into its 4th season.

    Danke.

I never actually planned to basically take the season off, it's just been "oh, I'll go for a ride today as soon as I finish this_work_thing". FML, I work too much. My bike only has 4k miles on it.

I'll snag a Yuasa. Comically, I actually have a battery tender, but until now I only used it over the winter. :\

parts unlimited? I mean most batteries are fine as long as you keep them on the tender or use the bike often..

i have a bike-master AGM gel cell battery. As a former Battery Master Technician on US Navy Submarines I know first hand that these out perform standard lead acid batteries hands down. I have one in my bike and will not look back.

For your use AGM is the way to go. Lower rate of internal discharge and can be cycled deeper than standard lead acid batteries.

Battery Tender will solve your problem.
If you already have an AGM battery, you can recover it with a multistage shop charger.
I have one you can borrow if you want to make your way to Brighton.

I have a Yuasa ytz10s that you can have for $30. its from my 01 929 but has worked flawlessly since I bought the bike in 05. always kept charged in the winter or when not in use for long periods and kept inside the house.
