i'm getting this next week as an upgrade from the F3 I have now... i was advised not to start on a newer 600 but honestly since the first day riding I was looking forward to getting on one of these eventually. Some people told me to just go for the R6 in the first place but they were greatly outnumbered by those who told me not to.
Now I'm close to being bored of the F3 and found my dream bike, so I went for it.
I can't describe how fuckin excited I am... Thought I'd share some pics...
EDIT:
Went to go pick her up last night... WOW WOW WOW! The guy thought I was going to drop the bike because it was his first bike and when he put the marchesinis on he said it felt like he was gonna drop it all the time (less weight low-down pushes the center of gravity up more so I guess it must have felt slightly harder to balance) but compared to the F3 the center of gravity of the R6 is much better so it was the easiest thing for me to control!! MUCH less weight, unbelievable feel of the steering- especially with the damper... I was messing around with the adjustments, absolutely incredible. and the feel of the suspension is just so tight and precise- it's absolutely unbelievable. clutchless upshifts are much smoother (maybe it's the synthetic oil?), didn't really get on it but it's definitely fast, yet easy to ride slower. brakes are phenomenal... something that threw me off a little is the clutch engagement point, it's right on the edge of the lever movement whereas on the F3 i had to pull the lever in a little before it disengaged. on the R6 the first mm of movement of the lever already starts to disengage the clutch, so blipping for downshifts and coordinating with releasing the lever was a little off.
All in all it's a spectacular bike, I took those long swooping turns on soldier's field rd. with some decent speed and it just feels so precise and agile, but not to the point that it's difficult to control... I was going nuts. When I finally parked I stared at it for probably a good 15-20 minutes. Didn't go to bed till late because I kept checking that it was still there and I didn't want to stop looking at it. I almost took it out again but decided to just sit and stare instead... I took the lions off since I'm a fan of a cleaner look...
UPDATE: more pics:
PICS:
So I took the lions off and took the silencer out and put the passenger seat on...

I love those racefit exhausts. Nice looking bike.

pretty nice, just be careful -- the black R6s don't seem to have too much in the way of good luck.
that body style is my favorite for the R6, though. the older ones from when it came out up until the R6S... the new one is pretty ugly.
enjoy, though. looks like it's got a fair bunch of aftermarket goodies![]()
hurray, strikethrough!

that bike is sweet man, love the wheels and those racefits are so nice sounding. Was that bike on craiglist? Has a ton of mods? Be sure to check out R6Central.com : Yamaha R6 Forum, I am one of the admins over there and there is a ton of info on our bikes.
yeah it was on CL and ebay, but I called the guy up as soon as i saw it and put a big deposit so he could take it off. It has a ridiculous amount of mods... Makes the bike really unique though and the guy put a lot of work into it.
I'm probably going to get a custom tune for it within the first month of owning it and definitely take it to the track.

nice, love the color 'cept it's not too visable. got a nice green and yellow helmet? like a barros replica?
nice... congrats!![]()
Congrats
Thanks!!
i love the barros scheme but I bought an Arai profile because it fit my head the best. I got the Wraithen scheme, it's pretty cool. I didn't like the shark helmets as much and for my first helmet I wanted to try them on and see what size/brand fit me best. None of the places I went to try on helmets had the barros replica.
But I'll get one down the road... i'd eventually like a replica of ayrton senna's helmet scheme.
The bike being black is less visible but it has dual HIDs so I think that should help at night.

I would just get rid of the dragons.
Nice Yamaha. How much you get it for if I may ask, if not ok. Again nice looking bike.
I agree, the decals will most likely come off. It looks much better in person but it's also starting to peel...
I'd prefer not to disclose what the final amount is because I still haven't picked the bike up. Once I have it here I'll post more pics and more details. Sorry, kind of Brazilian superstition, probably the only one that I follow almost instinctively, lol.

F3 is up on the for sale section, have some ppl interested. I said first 2500 takes it for NESR ppl but there's someone on CBRForum that's willing to pay more but he's from CT and will probably come look at it on the weekend.
I have a 2 bros full exhaust (super rare) for the F3 that I would include but at 2500 I would ask for more $$ if you want the full exhaust with it (uninstalled). Check out the FS section, the thread is called Gauging Interest: 97 Honda F3.
Speaking of the F3, I was actually shocked at first at how easy it was to ride the R6 and how similar the riding experience is. I mean the R6 is lighter, you sit more "on top" of the bike (lower handlebars, higher seat), the suspension is stiffer, and the steering is more precise (though the turning radius is 100x worse than the F3). But I was expecting to struggle a lot with it on the ride home and I didn't at all... I think that says a lot about the F3.
