learned to keep the balls on the pegs early on. Definitely had some surprise boot dragging as a newb with the arches on the pegs.

    BEMUSED

Slow speed, riding easy - Arch on pegs - shifts weight forwards, makes it more natural to sit up straight

Any speed, riding hard - toes on pegs
High speed, tucking (highway) - toes on pegs

??? On a long cruise, I just sit Indian style. It's hard on the clutch but, it''s comfy.

    Nah, what everyone else said.

funny no one at all has said Achilles tendon on the pegs... Legs stretched out, cruise control set, and arms folded across my chest. It's amazing how you can steer with a little body english !

    Re: Feet on the pegs

I'm on my balls until my feet start to fall asleep at which point I'll lift my balls a little to get the circulation going again. After that, I get back on my balls.

    Re: Feet on the pegs

I see ALOT of people riding rather spirited with the arches on the pegs. Kinda tells me something (tells them something to when they drag their toe in a corner.

I learned the hard way and almost always ride on the balls of my feet. Only during straight up long cruises do I shift to the arches occasionally to stretch a lil.

    Re: Feet on the pegs

on the street, I mostly keep the arches on the pegs, since it's the quickest way to get to the shifter and brake. When I'm on the track, I will regularly move my foot so I'm on the balls of my feet, though.

    Re: Feet on the pegs

Trying to get in the habit of using the balls of my feet in tight corners (ie: on the track), but I keep finding my arches on the pegs. Many many moons of riding created that habit that I have to break.

Balls of my feet unless I'm lazy-slabbing.

    Re: Feet on the pegs

I have noticed that the pros usually adjust to place the arch of the foot on the peg on the outside foot in a corner, and the balls on the inside foot. Outside foot 45 "ish" degrees, heel toward heel plate, inside foot, heels on heel plate.

    e.g.

For me it promotes a little better riding position, and you can weight the outside peg a little better using your whole leg, as opposed to just the muscles in your leg pushing on your toes.

    Thats just me though.

    Re: Feet on the pegs

I have seen that too, locking the outside heal into the peg. I haven't tried it on the track (and won't on the street) but I did find myself wanting more grip on my outside peg this weekend.

Out of habit I'm an arch guy, but I've been working on being a balls guy (erm..) so as to keep my toes in. When I think of it, I switch to balls. Kind of like Stoner on your usual Friday night after a few drinks.

Same here, it's hard becasue it feels so natural to be in the arch area.
