Best of luck, Jeff. That was TOO damned close! Thank God your gear worked ok, and that you came out of this and are back home. Heal up quick!
Got hit back in 88 when some lady pulled out from a parked position while talking on the phone. Injured my lower back and neck to this day it still bothers me so like Paul said make sure you get the medical attention and pt first before anything else, then sue the pants off the driver.

I just stopped by Jeff's house to see him. He appears to be in good spirits. Met his mom too (nice lady)
She took me out to the garage and showed me the bike. It actually looks like it is repairable. Forks bent, blown out tire, plastics rashed up. Not sure if the frame is tweaked though.
I stopped at the local news shop and bought him a couple of cycle rags to read. Figured he can use them. Seeing that he wont be mobile for a while.![]()
Jeff, you got a long road ahead of you bro, but just do what the doc's say and hopefully you'll be 100% in 6 months....
If all else fails, Lean more....
Thanks a lot for the magazine bro, little gestures really do lift your spirits so much. You did meet Patricia, my grandmother tee hee. I can't express how much it meant to me to hear someone, in person, give their best wishes.
To everyone else, thank you for all of your prayers.
On a side note - pictures will follow of course!![]()

and to continue getting off track...I am the complete opposite, while I am always trying to identify road hazards, faulty drivers and the like, takes me about a mintute and a half to get the feeling back on the bike...I went out last week, and though its was 45*, after an hour I was right back in it. Not that I am a crazy rider, (always trying my damndest to be smart and safe) I would guess its because I use the bike as a couch cause its in my living room and all I think about is riding...glad to hear he's back home and in good spirits, rock steady bro!![]()

Hope you have a quick and healthy recovery.
I saw him the other day, and he's looking good for a guy that could be dead. His leg is like a balloon! The bike is pretty fucked, damage all around, however his gear held up really well. I always hear about how people tell you to get the right gear and blah, blah, blah. But after seeing his jacket and gloves first hand it really showed me that expensive gear is not a gimmick, it really does make a difference.
Sometimes life hands us a replay...congrats and heal up quick. Oh...and the best place for medical advice is from a Doctor...follow their instructions!!!!

Duct tape is like "The Force". It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together.
Short Version:
Good to be alive.
Long Version:
Pretty good for what it is D. I went back for my first post-op a few weeks ago and everything was deemed "It isn't where we wouldn't expect it to be at this point." Since they used to hardware to repair my patella (kneecap, left), they have to allow more time for healing before physical therapy can start. My left leg has been in an immobilize (no bending) since the accident. I am using crutches to get around, and once PT starts, I will eventually graduate to a cane. We are looking at a year full recovery.
The muscle mass in my left leg is almost non-existent though my upper body, abs, and right leg are all rock solid now
I go back for my second post-op towards the end of the month, and they will then decide whether I need hardware dependent on how well it is healing on its own. Outlook is very good.
I am trying to keep my spirits up, but hearing about more motorcycle deaths/injuries takes a toll on me emotionally. I am trying to focus my energy on helping others as shown in this thread here, but no one seems to be taking to the idea (or there is already one "in progress") so my hopes of doing something to help was cut down. I just wanted to spread awareness and start a local "help group" so to speak. If anyone wants to still help me pursue this, my own personal dream, shoot me a PM or visit the thread.
